Introduction
We complete the bank holiday weekend at the Adrian Flux Arena with an afternoon of Banger racing (Monday, 1 May, 1pm). Top of the bill is the annual Battle of the Sexex where a team of ladies take on the men to find out who’s best. A huge field of Micro Bangers will also be in action, along with Junior Bangers.
There are currently 103 Micro Bangers, 29 Battle of the Sexes Banger Drivers & 38 Junior Bangers booked in to race.
Please note that this meeting is fully booked and any driver who turns up who is not listed below will not be allowed to race.
If you are not booked in and wish to race please ensure you book in asap on 01553 771111 / 07939 580652. Similarly if you are booked in and no longer able to race you must make sure you cancel on the same number.
Drivers please note that the pits open at 10pm and your early arrival will be appreciated. Drivers turning up in the last hour could well find themselves missing their first race.
Battle of the Sexes
A team of ladies in pink cars versus a team of men in blue cars, with plenty of vocal support from the terraces – this should make perfect entertainment for the whole family on a bank holiday afternoon. The teams will be competing not only for honour but also cash prizes to be donated to their chosen charity.
Action from last year's Banger Battle of the Sexes
Leading the ladies into battle are Lady Banger Gold Roof champion 477 Amy Brown, British champion 127 Helen Roberts, past multi-champ 3 Danielle Ellis and perennial frontrunner 74 Caroline Garner. Each of those has experience in National Banger racing so should be able to hold their own against the men, both in terms of racing and crashing.
They will be ably backed-up by the likes of teenage starlet 72 Breeze Atkin, 85 Kate Calver and 419 Laura Quadling who is another with plenty of National Banger experience.
In the blue corner, 566 Tony Pallett and 551 Brett Jackson boast the National and British Under-25 titles respectively, while super-quick 757 Callum Gill and his father 77 Russell Gill always go well in these types of cars.
116 Nat Cohn is ultra-quick in Vauxhall machinery, while 231 Alex Smith and 232 Steve Pope are 1500cc Banger specialists who might take up the role of enforcers or could be tempted to show a turn of speed.
Action men 266 Callum Hall and 514 Charlie Taylor could prove to be thorns in many a lady’s side if they turn on their usual crashing antics.
Micro Bangers
No formula provides more bang for your buck than Micro Bangers, where the little machines dish out serious amounts of punishment and keep coming back for more.
There is always plenty of action in the Micro Bangers
By the time the chequered flag falls, the likes of World of Shale champion 88 Lyndon Stark, former silver roof holders 338 Terry Garrod and 673 Darren Fendley, and top allrounder 830 Lee White should be near the front of the pack.
But they are unlikely to have things all their own way with a huge field of cars to negotiate. Junior Banger graduates 93 Luke Nieuwenburg and 221 Jordan Storr could be ones to watch, while newly Trackstar-registered brothers 257 Timmy and 921 Jack Aldridge are some of the quickest men you’ll ever see on track – while not afraid to get involved in the rough stuff either.
Wisbech brothers 124 Ollie and 321 Marcus Skeels – more usually seen in stock cars – make a rare appearance in Bangers, and these boys like a good crash. Marcus will probably be hoping not to repeat his trip around the top of the fence in his Saloon Stock Car here at Easter though.
The huge white grade entry is packed to the gunnels with drivers who love a good crash. Among them are Predator 178 Kieran Bowman, 633 Leeroy Haywood, 851 Adam ‘The Intimidator’ Storr and 908 Lewis Judd.
A number of drivers double-up with their involvement in the Battle of the Sexes, including 514 Charlie Taylor – who will be joined in this by his Shunters team-mates – and 551 Brett Jackson. Brother and sister pairing 10 Ben and 818 Tiff Collins will also be in action.
Junior Bangers
After finishing second and third in the British championship here three weeks ago, 93 Marshall Waldron and 608 Lennie Murkin will be out to prove they’re the drivers to beat once again.
608 Lennie Murkin will be looking to continue his fantstic start to the season!
Superstars 997 Wayne Cottrill III and 90 Joey Holmes Jr will be aiming to reassert their authority, while the likes of 328 Ben Nichols and 999 Louie Cottrill should also be ones to watch.
Experienced Ministox man 331 Archie Fryatt could be a major threat from the front of the grid.
Funfair Rides
All the fun of the fair will be at King's Lynn on Saturday with the hugely popular Fun House making a reappearances. The good news for mum and dad is that this is free for the kids to go on as often as they like!
