Introduction
The second part of The Adrian Flux Arena’s ‘Bang’ Holiday weekend comes on Monday afternoon (1pm), headlined by the ever-popular Big Van Bangers Vandemonium. Further crashing action comes from Two-Litre (non-Mondeo) Bangers, Junior Bangers, with stock car racing in the form of 1300cc Stock Cars.
There are currently 17 Big Van Bangers, 29 2L (Non Mondeo) Bangers, 34 1300 Stock Cars and 21 Junior Bangers booked in to race.
We are currently expecting 18 Big Van Bangers, 30 2L (Non Mondeo) Bangers, 34 1300 Stock Cars and 22 Junior Bangers to be in action.
Please note that any drivers racing in a formula that is due to receive start money and is not booked in will not receive Start Money. Any other formula will not receive their points or complimentary admissions. Any driver who is booked in who does not race or cancel their booking will have to pay a fine before they are allowed to race again. Bookings and cancelations can be made by E Mailing trackstar@norfolkarena.co.uk or by phoning 01553 771111 or phoning / texting 07939 580652.
Big Van Bangers
The Unlimited Vandalism Vantastic Vandemonium is always one of the highlights of the year at the Adrian Flux Arena, when drivers get to let their hair down and race just for fun, hauling massive motors around the track and crashing them to destruction.
Expect their to be a few Big Van Banger wrescks like this one from 352 Ben Mynot last year
World Champion 390 David Gibson heads the entry list and when he’s in crashing mode few are better. Team-mate 392 Sam Baines may dispute that – the expert wrecker will never, ever leave the track with anything like a straight machine. 396 Karl Turner – something of a specialist in the novelty categories – completes the trio of Bourne-based Mad Hatters on the early entry list.
Expect 390 Davi Gibson to be heavily involved in the action
Brothers 337 Ashley, 338 Terry and 339 Jack Garrod will be out to have some fun but all three are also likely to feature strongly in the results.
Gladiator 549 Phil Smith will set out to make sure no one has it easy, while 888 Shaun Stark is sure to be lively too.
2L (Non Mondeo) Bangers
The popular non-Mondeo format in operation will ensure that variety is much greater on track and should also provide a big entry in what is the penultimate qualifying round for this year’s World Championship.
The entry includes a number of drivers who are doubling-up in the vans, including 390 David Gibson, 392 Sam Baines and all three Garrod brothers.
392 Sam Baines will be one of several drivers who has a busy day as they race in both the 2L Bangers and the Big Vans
Two-Litre specialist 287 Dean Quincee will be a threat to the established front runners, while 601 Chris Medler’s performance will depend on which version of ‘Bling’ turns up – the entertainer, the racer, or both?
The Gladiators are represented by 747 Liam Hard, while 713 Ashley Ward and the other locals are all likely to get stuck in and be chasing a good crash.
713 Ashley Ward is one of several drivers booked to race who likes to get stuck in
Look out for 791 Nicky Young who can almost always be counted on to be piloting one of the smartest cars on track.
1300 Stock Cars
The little stock cars are in action at the Adrian Flux Arena for the second weekend running. Last time out, 780 Simon Sparrow took his second consecutive meeting final at the track, while 22 Ian Cowern, 341 Austen Freestone and 400 Kevin Shinn were also race winners. All will be looking for further success on Monday.
400 Kevin Shinn continues to rack up the race victories
Sparrow’s and Shinn’s success, along with consistently strong results for 653 Gemma Rainer, have seen 340 Wes Freestone, the defending National Points Champion, to slip to fourth in the current standings. He will be out to rectify that, having hopefully overcome the engine problems that have hampered his recent progress.
The Wisbech contingent of 07 Ady Moden, 08 Lee Green and 273 Kevin McClagish have all been in strong form recently, while 704 Stuart Henderson has already been a double winner at the track this year, in his first full season in the formula.
Newcomers keep finding their way into the category, and we are pleased to welcome 140 Thomas House and 422 Martin Taylor for what should be their first appearances.
Junior Bangers
After two major championships in recent weeks, the under-16s will be pleased to get back out on track with less pressure.
New English Champion 997 Wayne Cottrill has been dominant so far in 2015. Who will be able to stop him on Monday?
Will newly crowned English Champion 997 Wayne Cottrill be able to continue his good run of form on Monday?
Free Fairground Rides for the Kids
The fantastic Fun House together with another kids attraction will be back for the kids to ensure that they have plenty to do before the meeting and between races. The good news for mum and dad is that going on the rides is all free!
