The Big C
For the past few years, Crash for Cancer has been focal point of the Summer Season here at King’s Lynn; the brainchild of veteran racer Mick Gedney, has seen some superb Van Banger racing, with record numbers of vans in action, all helping to raise money for charity And this year is set to be no different, with another magnificent field of vans ready to meet their end. The event will see fundraising taking place for "The Big C" - Norfolk's Cancer Charity. http://www.big-c.co.uk/ The Big C has Support Centres across our region in Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, King's Lynn and Norwich to help support you or someone you know suffering from Cancer. Over £20,000 has been raised over the past few years from this event and we hope to add a great amount to that total.
The event will see fundraising taking place for "The Big C" - Norfolk's Cancer Charity Over £20,000 has been raised over the years for the Cancer Unit at the QEH and more recently "The Big C".
Big Van Bangers
Mick Ivatt (55), a legendary EA banger racer of the 90’s is more usually seen at meetings these days on the centre waving flags or recovering cars to the pits in his tractor. Making an annual appearance in the Big Vans and not afraid to get stuck in.
Kevin McClagish (273) - Mad Mouse, the veteran racer will also be back on track and usually brings something different to race! Along with running mate; James Ellis (85) both really enjoy this meeting and great to have them back again.
James Ellis (85) was in the thick of the action last year!
Further material might come in the form of Ross Coleman (476) who turns out something different and is always immaculately presented too.
Ross Colemans Smart EA Van last year didn't stay smart long!
Lee Saunders (349) and Trevor Wright (380) will travel up from Kent and enjoy getting stuck in at the “novelty” meetings. Both in the mix at last year’s staging.
Entertainers’ League dominator Taylor Sowter (388) will be back in the Vans – he put in a great entertaining display at our May meeting and more of the same expected again this Monday.
Taylor Sowter (388) isn't shy of getting stuck in!
Joel Allen (479) took a home a well snapped Transit from last years event; whilst other local drivers looking to put on a great show will include Lee Barnes (41), Lee Horwood (441) and Jake Swann (538) – all of which were also well involved in the action last year.
Non stop action in the Big Van Bangers
2 Litre Banger Norfolk Teams
The 2 Litre Bangers contest the Norfolk teams of 4, or East Anglian Teams as it has been called before. Having not been staged for a handful of years, it makes a welcome return to the fixture list; won previously by some of the biggest Banger teams in EA; the Mad Hatters, Damage Inc, Crunchers, Team Jackpot etc, but it appears there will be a new team taking charge on Monday.
The 2Litre bangers have been superb this year at King’s Lynn and there’s every indication we’re in for another good day.
The 2 Litre Bangers have been brilliant entertainment this season.
Team Black are probably THE pinnacle when it comes to Team meetings; as a team in various guises have probably won more in team competitions than any other in the modern era and will likely to start favourites.
The Aftermath, Predators, Shunters, Team Filmer/Sowter and Team Ice Cream made up of an awesome foursome, there could be some big crashes and hitting on the cards!
Expect a lot of crashes and smashes in the Bangers on Monday!
Reliant Robins
The three-wheelers will be contesting their prestigious World of Shale title, currently held by Steve Willis (66) – although not clear if he will be set to defend his title. Over 20 Reliant Robins are currently booked in – a great turnout – who are bound to spend much of the race time rolling and shedding their bodywork; when they roll, they roll big!
Rollovers and lots of airtime in the Reliant Robins
The top drivers from the formula will be in attendance; World Champion Daniel Douglas (553), National Points Champion Roy Gedge (385) and James Elllis (85) will be in attendance, all are previous winners of the World of Shale crown too!
Regular Robin racers Ian Robins (96), Lee Barnard (490) and Chalky Douglas (554) join the line up and I’m sure will be one’s to keep an eye on.
Mick Dunderdale (36) and Marty Dunderdale (360). We look forward to seeing Laura Quadling (419) taking to the track in a Reliant Robin, swapping the customary four wheels of National Bangers for three.
A hugely comeptitive and spectacularly entertaining day for the Reliant Robins!
