Introduction
Bank Holiday Bangers will be entertaining the crowds at the Adrian Flux Arena this weekend (Monday, 29 August, 1pm) with a special charity event for the Big Van Bangers, the annual 1500cc Bangers East Anglian Team Championship and three-wheeled Reliant Robin action.
Please note that this meeting is fully booked for drivers and drivers have been turned away and on a reserve list. It is very important if any driver is listed and no longer able to race that they contact the promotion on 01553 771111 / 07939 580652. If you are not booked in but would like to race please also contact the above number. Please note that teams are not able to change any members now - if someone cant make it they cannot be replaced.
ANY DRIVER TURNING UP WHO IS NOT LISTED BELOW WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RACE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
There are currently 66 Big Van Bangers, 51 1500cc Bangers and 16 Reliant Robins booked in for action.
Drivers please note that the pits open at 9am and your early arrival will be appreciated. Drivers turning up in the last hour could well find themselves missing their first race. Earn "Crash for Cancer" an extra £25 - Simply turn up before 10am and if you are in a transporter that you do not need during the afternoon, unload your vehicle and take your transporter to either the main car park or field over the road and we will donate an extra £25 on your behalf to the charity! You must let us know in advance if you want to do this though to qualify for the £25 on 07939 580652.
There will be a parade for all Vans and Reliant Robins at 12.30pm. Please note that you will need to have been scrutineered to be eligable to go on this. Immediately after the parade there will be a drivers briefing for Van Drivers only.

Big Van Bangers
The Crash For Cancer event will be raising funds for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Cancer Care and Treatment Fund and has attracted biggest entry of Van Bangers ever seen in East Anglia. Much credit is due to the triumvirate of 186 Mick Gedney, 707 Mark Nottingham and 734 Mark Saunders who came up with the idea and have put in plenty of work behind the scenes and now will be looking to enjoy themselves on track for the first time in some years.
Big Van races are always full of action
For Gedney, long-time member of the legendary Predators team, it is a first opportunity to race alongside his son 86 Brett Gedney who has graduated to National Bangers this year.
186 Mick Gedney will be in action for the first time in 8 years and will also be racing with son Brett for the first ever time
There are plenty more ‘old-timers’ among the massive entry, who aren’t seen often on track nowadays. The likes of 77 Lee Ivatt, 86 Simon Royal and 245 Stephen Lown will be looking to wind back the years and have some fun.
The present generation is well represented too. After the home favourites had a torrid time in last weekend’s Two-Litre Banger World Final, they will be looking to get back to winning ways on Monday. That goes for brothers 337 Ashley, 338 Terry and 339 Jack Garrod and 322 Tom Fox.
Van specialists in the field include father and son duo 385 Paul Evans and 386 Sam Evans, a strong representation from the Gypsy Crew led by 85 James Ellis and 273 Kevin McClagish, and long-distance travellers the Surrey Street Squad, including the likes of 403 George Tickner.
Van specialist 273 Kevin "Mad Mouse" McClagish can be guaranteed to be involved in the action
There are also outings for Lady Banger regulars 70 Sophie Unwin, 72 Breeze Atkin and 127 Helen Roberts.
1500cc Bangers
The East Anglian Team Championship is often one of the meetings of the season, with huge amounts of action delivered by the medium-sized cars. Defending champions are Team Jackpot, crewed by a full line-up of Garrod brothers, three of whom are also racing in the Vans. Fifth brother 99 Ricky Garrod is also in action, guesting for 322 Tom Fox’s Team 322.
Expect plenty of action in the 1500cc Bangers
Completing the trophy placings last year were two Team Starky squads, the remnants of which race under the Team Skint Sharks moniker this year.
Local favourites the Mad Hatters have entered two teams, with the ‘A’ outfit led by 390 David Gibson looking strong contenders for honours.
Will Mad Hatter 601 Chris "Bling" Meddler have another big wreck?
Other likely contenders for the title include Damage Inc, former winners of the event led by 247 Lee ‘Bro’ Clarke, and Team Mates ‘A’, who could go under the radar but are crewed by the rapid 566 Tony Pallett and 830 Lee White, plus in-form 10 Ben Collins.
The nationally renowned Predators team should be in the thick of the action, while the Smurfs, Wild Boyz and three Gremlins teams are also certain to get stuck in and provide plenty of entertainment.
Reliant Robins
For the three-wheelers, it’s their biggest event of the season, the World of Shale, defended by London’s 553 Daniel Douglas. Former champions 385 Roy Gedge and 704 Stuart Henderson are also in the field and gunning for glory.
Defending World of Shale Champion and former World of Shale Champion 385 Roy Gedge will be hoping the main race does not end like this for them!
Former points champions 85 James Ellis and 576 Colin Aldred are also sure to be at the sharp end of proceedings.
Much of the rest of the field is packed with entertainers who could spend almost as much time on their roofs as on all three wheels and are likely to be shedding fibreglass bodywork all over the track.
Expect rollovers aplenty in the Robins
At the Robins’ last meeting, just nine cars put on an absolutely terrific show for the crowd on Summer Carnival Night. With virtually double that number expected this weekend, this is certainly going to be one that must not be missed.
Will anyone be able to stay on their wheels in the Reliant Robins
