Introduction
Bank holiday racing action comes with a bang at the Adrian Flux Arena on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon (31 August, 1pm), when the ever-popular Van Bangers and Reliant Robins will be entertaining the crowds. Support comes in the form of Two-Litre Bangers in a non-Mondeo outing, and the annual team event for Lady Bangers.
There are currently 22 Big Van Bangers, 14 Reliant Robins, 39 2L (Non Mondeo) Bangers and 22 Lady Bangers (8 teams) booked in to race.
We are currently expecting 22 Big Van Bangers, 14 Reliant Robins, 39 2L (Non Mondeo Bangers) and 22 Lady Bangers to be in action.
Please note that any drivers racing in a formula that is due to receive start money and is not booked in will not receive Start Money. Any other formula will not receive their points or complimentary admissions. Any driver who is booked in who does not race or cancel their booking will have to pay a fine before they are allowed to race again. Bookings and cancelations can be made by E Mailing trackstar@norfolkarena.co.uk or by phoning 01553 771111 or phoning / texting 07939 580652.
Van Bangers
Big van Bangers produce big wrecks!
The big vans will be contesting their Vandemonium Revenge meeting, following on from May’s outing when 851 Adam Storr was a double race winner. ‘The Intimidator’ will be in action once again and is sure to be in the thick of the action.
Expect 851 Adam "The Intimidator" Storr to be heavily involved in the action on Monday
Van specialists 324 Mark Lathan, 385 Paul Evans and 386 Sam Evans will all be on track, along with 439 Paul Sutton, who promises some vintage material. Making his Van Banger debut will be 128 Andrew Shipp.
386 Sam Evans always puts on a great show
We welcome increasingly regular visitor 95 Anton Martin for another session on track, while the lure of an entertaining afternoon in the vans has once again tempted 888 Shaun Stark back for another outing. But when it comes to entertaining the crowd, none do it better than 392 Sam Baines who currently leads the Entertainers League standings.
392 Sam Baines currently leads the Banger Entertainer League
More regular pace-setters, 337 Ashley, 338 Terry and 339 Jack Garrod should all feature at the sharp end of proceedings.
Expect 888 Shaun Stark to be in a crashing mood!
Two-Litre (non-Mondeo Bangers)
All three Garrod brothers, Martin and Baines will also be racing in the Two-Litre Bangers, so top marks for effort to them. They will be joined by the new World Champion, 673 Darren Fendley, who continued his fine form last weekend with two race wins in the Micro Bangers, even managing to roll his car after taking the flag in the allcomers race.
673 Darren Fendley returns with a 2L Banger for the first time since being crowned 2L Banger World Champion
The popular format also sees Baines’ Mad Hatters team-mate 399 Jonny Atkin in action plus former Entertainers League runner-up 601 Chris Medler, non-Mondeo specialist 26 Daniel Holmes and 830 Lee White who, like Holmes, is likely to be Vauxhall-mounted.
399 Jonny Atkin will be in action for the Mad Hatters
Further top-line entertainers come in the shape of 282 Bobby Daniels, 551 Brett Jackson and 713 Ashley Ward, while 897 Matt Battle will aim to repeat a successful night in the last non-Mondeo meeting here at the start of the month.
713 Ashley Ward is normally on the hunt for an Entertainer Trophy
Reliant Robins
The three-wheelers contest their biggest race of the year, the World of Shale Championship, which will be defended by 385 Roy Gedge. He will have a big task on his hands to retain the title though, with 85 James Ellis starting as favourite. The Ely racer has set the pace at every meeting so far this season, and is well on the way to retaining his National Points Championship crown.
Defending World of Shale Champion 385 Roy Gedge will be hoping for more luck than the last time he came to King's Lynn when he was involved in this big double rollover which also involved 553 Daniel Douglas.
Also in contention will be multiple champion 553 Daniel Douglas, on another visit from London, former World of Shale Champion 704 Stuart Henderson and former National Points Champion 576 Colin Aldred.
The likes of 185 Ben Oliver, 247 Ryan Clarke and 379 Peter Graham look set to thrill the bank holiday crowd with the shapes they pull in their little ‘plastic pigs’, performing multiple rollovers and shedding bodywork galore.
379 Peter "Yogi" Graham loves to entertain!
Lady Bangers
The Lady Bangers’ annual three-a-side team competition moves to a slightly later date this year. Defending double champions are the Destructive Divas, with team captain 369 Jane Allard joined this year by 396 Kirstie Rix.
369 Jane Allard's Destructive Divas won the Lady Banger Team Event last year
The Gladiators outfit of 74 Caroline Garner, 298 Kelly Staples and 511 Liz Williams will definitely be ones to watch. They aren’t afraid to get involved in the rougher stuff and have some super-quick drivers.
511 Liz Williams and the Gladiators have a good chance of top team honours
The Mix and Match team of 79 Stacy Lightfoot and 419 Laura Quadling could also be contenders, while the Chalky team of 17 Kelly Smith, 70 Sophie Unwin and 529 Kay Atter could thrive on their underdogs’ status.
419 Laura Quadling will be a big contender whilst 17 Kelly Smith will be hoping to keep all four wheels on the floor
Free Fairground Rides for the Kids
There will be free fairground rides at King's Lynn to help ensure that they have plenty to do before the meeting and between races. The good news for mum and dad is that going on the rides is free!
