Introduction

For the first time in many years, inter-promotional team racing returns on 15 July when the Adrian Flux Arena, King’s Lynn, hosts an East Anglian showdown between the Trackstar Mafia and the Mildenhall Fen Tigers. As well as local bragging rights, the event will have the feel of a ‘summer Civil War’ as the teams field cars in three classes, for Unlimited, Two-Litre and Micro Bangers.

interpro

It has been a number of years since the red cars of the Trackstar Mafia and Black and Yellow cars of the Fen Tigers crossed swords

Following Pistol Pete’s One Last Shot and the War of the Worlds, this is another huge Banger racing meeting that just cannot be missed.

There are currently 59 Micro Bangers 65 2L Bangers and 42 Unlimited Bangers booked in to race.

Please note that any driver who turns up unbooked will not  be allowed to race if the event is still fully booked.

Drivers should book in to race through the respective team captains.

Drivers please note that the pits open at  2pm and your early arrival will be appreciated. Drivers turning up in the last hour could well find themselves missing their first race.

Team briefings will be at 4.30pm

Unlimited Bangers

There will be 21 of the big rear-wheel-drive cars on each team. The home team includes plenty of big names in Unlimiteds, including World of Shale champion 88 Lyndon Stark. He will probably aim to the do the winning, backed up by several drivers who may take that role should they find themselves in a good position, such as 103 Jack Deacon, 116 Nat Cohn and a man who has driven just about everything in his career, 257 Timmy Aldridge.

 103

But where the Mafia’s team looks really power-packed is on the wrecking front, boasting Sowter/Filmer trio 288 Carl and 388 Taylor Sowter and 884 Tom Filmer, plus 43 Nicky Bishop, 79 Ricky Twell and 513 Shaun Harvey to name just a few.

 388 34

Expect 388 Taylor Sowter to be making life difficult for the Fen Tigers

Facing up against them, the Fen Tigers track Mildenhall top dogs 328 Daniel Lathan, 326 Shane Lynn and 898 Andy Battle and several of the Wisbech-based Gypsy Crew, including 85 James Ellis. Father-and-son duo 57 Stu and 570 Jordan Cumming represent the former promotion’s Kent arm, while there is also a northern flavour to the team, with drivers like 01 Kyle Shires, 17 Kyle Overy and 171 Tommy West donning yellow and black for the day.

898 Andy Battle will be back in Fen Tigers colours

Two-Litre Bangers

Each team will field 33 of the middle-sized cars, with the class likely to be dominated by Mondeos.

The Trackstar Mafia line-up is full of two-litre specialists such as 51 James Licquorice and 212 Jack Maryon, the Aftermath's 285 Sean Dyer and Predators 178 Kieran Bowman and 404 Luke Brinton. They are joined by several Gladiators, including 549 Phil and 589 Simon Smith, plus the Garrod brothers 337 Ashley, 338 Terry, 339 Jack and 389 Charlie who love their two-litre racing. The man most likely to the do the winning is 830 Lee White, who currently tops the national points standings.

Don't expect the Aftermath's 285 Sean Dyer to be taking home a straight car!

For the Fen Tigers, Lynn and British champion Lathan double up from the Unlimiteds, and will be joined by 2015 British champion 313 Craig Osborne, brothers 317 Callum and 817 Kurt Jacobs and 592 ‘Mad’ Mark Marchant. 327 Mick Maskell Jr, 517 Sid Cooper and 623 Ricky Hutton are likely to be worth watching, while 312 ‘Turbo’ Tom Reynolds, 449 Billy Critttenden and 599 Matty Butcher are sure to get stuck in too.

Expect 327 Micky Maskell to be heavily involved in the action

Micro Bangers

They might be the smallest in size, but the Micros won’t be the smallest on action, with each team fielding another 30 cars apiece.

Micro UK champion 322 Tom Fox heads the Mafia line-up. He could be joined out front by 566 Tony Pallett, who is also ultra-quick in these cars, but might not be able to resist getting stuck into the rough stuff. Among the Micro specialists in the team are 69 Brad and 691 Ryan Bartrum, 155 Sam Coote and 851 Adam ‘The Intimidator’ Storr. Superfast 921 Jack Aldridge may look to score big points for the team, if he isn’t tempted to go crashing, which is most certainly what 247 Jon Bailey and 633 Leeroy Haywood will be doing.

155 Sam Coote will be a big player for the Mafia in the Micro Bangers

The Fen Tigers feature Bear 321 Kieran Fry in their team, plus Mildenhall stalwarts 36 Ricky and 37 Dave Lewis, 325 Craig Lathan and 512 Sean Cooper. The Mildenhall team also features Stock Car stars who are also Micro Banger regulars in the shape of 124 Ollie Skeels, 321 Marcus Skeels 46 Kelven Nicholls and 177 Chris Masters who could all prove to be very dangerous indeed!
