Introduction
King’s Lynn on Saturday night (16 June, 5:30pm) will see the pits full once again with some of the best drivers from the Trackstar Banger and Stock Car scene. The 1500cc Bangers will compete in the East Anglian Team event; an event which is a welcome addition to the fixtures after it wasn’t run in 2017, also in action the hard hitting 2 Litre Stock Cars with a full field of cars and the equally big hitting 1300cc Stock Cars.
There are currently 34 1500cc Bangers over 9 teams, 31 2L Stock Cars (14 2L Stock Cars for Ladies Race) and 37 1300 Stock Cars booked in to race
Any driver who wishes to race and is not booked in below should book in asap on 07939 580652 (2L Stock Car drivers should go through SSCA Secretary). Any driver turning up not booked will not receive their complimentary admissions. If you are booked in and no longer able to race you should let us know asap on 07939 580652.
Drivers please note that the pits open at 2pm and your early arrival will be appreciated. Drivers turning up in the last hour could well find themselves missing their first race. Please note you will not be able to save space in the pits and if you want to park with someone please make sure you turn up with them. Only race transporters will be allowed in the pits.
1500cc Banger East Anglian Teams
The last 1500cc East Anglian team event was missing from the fixtures last year, making a welcome return this season. The 1500cc Icebreaker event is certainly one of the highlights of the year and whilst the 16th might not be as big in terms of numbers there’s no reason the action won’t be as hard hitting! The list really is a who’s who from the Trackstar banger scene.
Lee White (830) will lead the charge along with “Team Mates” Karl Corsby (175), Shaun Clarke (319 and Tony Pallett (566), this group of drivers hold down some of the top placings in the Points table here, these guys know how to get a car around this arena quickly so could start favourite for top honours.
566 Tony Pallett will be part of "Team Mates" who will start Saturday night as pre meeting favorites for the East Anglian Banger Teams
Our resident announcer Matt Black has put together two teams in the guise of “Blacks All Stars” which also features more talented Trackstar racers featuring Kieran Gray (123) and Matt Tillow (556) and should be ones to keep an eye on.
123 Kieran Gray will be one of the main players for Matt Black's "Black's All Stars" team
Kieran Bowman (178) and his Predators team will likely add some carnage to proceedings, Kieran is well ahead in the entertainer league and no signs of him slowing down there, joined by Brad Bowman (279) who is also making his way up that league along with Damien Matthews (87) and Robert Betts (219) the red and blue cars of the predators will be probably either feature well in the results or go wrecking!
2 Litre Stock Cars
The excellent 2 Litre Stock Cars return as time ticks by building up to their August World Final weekend event here. The drivers getting track time is becoming all the more important as they want to start to stake their claim for the Gold roof.
The line up will be headed by World Champion Daniel Parker (306) who regularly seems to have a target on his back in his title defence year, Parker will want to get back to winning ways on Saturday.
World Champion 306 Daniel Parker will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday
Recently crowned European Champion Diggy Smith (116) likewise will be wanting to get back in to the form that took him to that title win at Taunton to be in with a shot of another World title.
Tommy Barnes (26) has been recently upgraded to red, but this doesn’t seem to have held him back - he was heavily involved last weekend on the Northampton shaleway - always thick amongst the action and not one to shy away from using the bumper.
Expect 26 Tommy Barnes to be in the middle of the action
Long distance traveller Barry Russell (600) joins us again, full credit to Barry who has raced at each of our 2018 meetings; which is excellent from his base in Cowdenbeath, Scotland. Barry was rewarded with a final win here on Bank holiday Monday and will be hoping to carry through this form Saturday.
Scotland's 600 Barry Russell has been an ever present at King's Lynn in 2018 and was the winner of the meeting final last time out
Sid Madgwick (217) joins the hugely competitive line up, off the back of winning the final at Northampton last weekend, he will be looking to take my silverware home. Simon Venni (570) took the other two race wins that day; a drop to yellow following some engine problems this year, Venni is back on form; a no nonsense style to racing too he will be one to watch! Shame Emerson (888) adds to the lower graders, he took a fine win in the Under 25 championship here earlier this season and will be looking to regain some form.
1300 Stock Cars
Returning for their fifth appearance of 2018 here on the King’s Lynn shale; this formula really is up and coming; with 4 meetings and 4 different final winners here this year, it’s a hugely competitive one too! Will there be a fifth winner on Saturday?
The list is a strong showing of home drivers, with current Points champion Luke Jackson (450) leading the charge, he will likely feature well along with fellow star man Dan Booth (216). The pair are tied at the top of the National points table together, which could see a battle for the top spot start to appear.
National Points Champion 450 Luke Jackson heads a strong home entry
Kevin Shinn (400) always adds to the racing too, quick and happy to use the bumper, he will be hoping to make up for last meeting where he retired in a cloud of steam mid meeting.
The mid grid will feature some tough competition and will make the going hard for the red grade. Connor Sheldrake (535), Ben Englestone (769) have both been race winners here plus, Charlie Ellis (555) a final winner already. Throw in to the mix Dean Quincee (287) and Karl Morris (390) who are tough drivers to pass mid pack, the blue graders will be an extremely tough grade to move through!
287 Dean Quincee is a tough driver to pass from the blue grade in the 1300 Stock Cars
Todd Payne (149) and Chris Taylor (421) spent much of last meeting battling one another, both scheduled to appear, could the battle rage again on Saturday?
149 Todd Payne is a top performer from the yellow grade
Banger racer Polly Reade (285) joins the line up, she will be no slouch either from the front of the grid. Another competitive night ahead for the 1300 stock cars!
2 Litre Stock Cars Ladies race
The wives, girlfriends and friends of the 2 litre racers take to the track to show the guys what they’re made of in a charity ladies race which will be on track first at 5:30. Full credit to the ladies for getting out on track in the name of raising money, we wish them well. With some interesting names taking to the track; it could be a very entertaining race!
Thanks also go to 2 Counties Storage for helping to boost the charity coffers be sponsoring this race - viit their website here
