Introduction
An action-packed weekend of Stock Car Racing is on the cards at the Norfolk Arena, King’s Lynn this Easter. It all starts on Saturday night (6pm) with the Unlimited Bangers in action for the first time since the Icebreaker, alongside both the Two-Litre and 1300cc Stock Cars.
Currently there are 56 Unlimited Bangers, 41 2L Stock Cars & 38 1300 Stock Cars booked in to race.

Unlimited Bangers
The East Anglian Championship is on offer to the Unlimited Banger drivers this weekend. More than 60 cars are expected, with defending champion 247 Lee Clarke topping the entry list. He had a terrific season at the track last year, also claiming the coveted World of Shale Championship. The meeting also represents the first qualifying round for this year’s WoS title, and so is the first chance for the locals to secure their place on the grid for September’s big race.
247 Lee "Bro" Clarke following his victory in last year's Unlimited Banger East Anglian Championship which saw 148 Ian "Shorty" Redden come home n second place
Anyone who wants to claim the title will first have to beat 382 Jack Foster Jr. The Worksop youngster has seemingly been winning races for fun at tracks all across the country so far in 2014, and will be amongst the favourites for this weekend’s title.
Double National Points Champion 22 Dave Vincent is always amongst the leading challengers and is already well placed in this season’s points chart, while 673 Darren Fendley is a former British Champion and cannot be discounted.
22 Dave Vincent is always a big contender at the Norfolk Arena
Leading this year’s points table is 85 James Ellis, in what he reckons will be his last year of racing, at least on a regular basis. The Ely driver will be looking to go out on a high.
Can 85 James Ellis continue his great start to the season
Wisbech-based brothers 791 Nicky and 790 Nathan Young are sure to campaign some impressively turned-out machinery. Hailing from the same area, rapidly improving young gun 11 Ryan Leeks will also be in action, while at the other end of the experience scale, watch out for veteran 398 Julian Watson’s return to the track following a two-and-half year absence.
A contemporary of Watson’s was 811 Pete Winter. The Hull racer was one of the sport’s leading lights throughout the 1990s and into the new century. His recent return to the tracks has delighted many and he will be sure to turn out another smart motor this weekend. Great Yarmouth’s 65 Shaun Randall and Wymondham’s 160 Shayn Winsor are two more veterans who keep coming back for more.
Mad Hatters duo 390 David Gibson and 399 Jonny Atkin are likely to be riding high in the entertainment stakes and the same can be said for fellow Lincolnshire squad Bad News who muster four cars – 280 Simon Goodale, 27 Will Longford, 660 Paul Lambe as well as Norwich-based 330 John Cullingford.
390 David Gibson and tghe Mad Hatters are always lively
The meeting also sees the staging of the 2013 White and Yellow Series final for lower graded drivers. Starting on pole position will be local man 182 Ashley Watkinson with Colchester’s 514 Charlie Taylor alongside. Heading the yellow grade are 851 Adam Storr and Nick Young, while of the blue graders that are eligible, Goodale and 601 Chris Medler will start at the front.

2L Stock Cars
The annual 25-and-under Championship of Great Britain is on the line this weekend for the rising stars of Saloon Stock Car racing.
Many of those eligible are in fact already stars in their own right, with the entry headed by English Champion 306 Daniel Parker. British Championship runner-up 149 Jamie Sampson is also in the field, while former World Champion 360 Carl Waterfield is hungry for more success having won both heats here two weeks ago.
306 Daniel Parker
The final winner a fortnight ago was 220 Casey Englestone. He managed to repeat that feat last weekend at Coventry and so will surely start amongst the favourites on Saturday. Likewise, fellow teenager 391 Jake Banwell cannot be discounted, having scorched to two consecutive final victories earlier in the season.
220 Casey Englestone
570 Simon Venni will be the leading Lincolnshire hopeful and will be desperate for success, having finished third in this race for the past two years.
Defending under-25 champion is 573 Marty Lake who made his first appearance of the season here last time out, and was involved in the night’s most spectacular incident which saw 23 Lee Pearce end up on his roof.
The over-25s will be in action too of course. They number four former World Champions among them in 116 Diggy Smith, 401 Steve and 402 Shaun Webster, and reigning track champion 499 David Aldous. Dereham brothers 511 Craig and 512 Darren Barnett are both former major title winners too and are set for their first appearances of the season.
116 Diggy Smith
All that and we haven’t mentioned the man who’s leading the 2014 King’s Lynn track championship: 641 Willie Skoyles Jr. The field has so much strength in depth that any number of drivers could be race winners, but Skoyles has been consistently quick so far this year and currently heads the standings from Aldous and Parker.
1300 Stock Cars
Completing the programme on Saturday night are the smaller 1300cc Stock Cars. Hometown racer 340 Wesley Freestone has set the early-season pace at King’s Lynn and was also a race winner at Yarmouth Stadium a fortnight ago.
340 Wes Freestone
World Champion 344 Ross Fisher has yet to find his best form in 2014 and will be looking for a change in fortune this weekend. The same could be said for 350 Rob Jackson. The Stevenage man was a revelation from the lower grades last season but has yet to score consistently since his promotion to superstar status. He will hope that his smart new car can power him to success.
344 Ross Fisher
World of Shale Champion 409 Carlos Pears will be in the hunt, as will father-and-son duo 673 John and 573 Shane Moat. Both are more used to starting in the superstars than from the reds, although with such a large field, there are still a lot of cars in front to work their past.
Gladiators Banger pairing 174 Dave Osbourne and 747 Liam Hard make their track debuts, the former having already had a successful outing at Northampton last month. Also on debut are 551 Brett Jackson, the UK Champion in Micro Bangers and 366 Matt Naughton. We also hope to see the smart new car of 271 Joe Cook for the first time.
Kids Rides
Looking for a way to entertain the kids in between races? To help keep the little ones happy the majority of King’s Lynn meetings will have a selection of kids rides which are all free to go on and there will be two rides for kids to go on for free at the 19 April meeting.
