Introduction
The monstrous roar of massive V8 engines returns to the Adrian Flux Arena, King’s Lynn, this weekend as BriSCA Formula One stock cars come to town in the latest round of their Shootout Series (Saturday 22 September, 5:30pm). They will be joined by two-litre Saloon Stock Cars in the first round of their inaugural National Series, with the Driver of the Year title also up for grabs, plus 1300cc Stock Cars.
There are currently 39 F1 Stock Cars , 34 2L Stock Cars and 36 1300 Stock Cars booked in to race.
Any driver who turns up unbooked will not receive any complimentary admissions / start monies which they may be entitled to. If you are not listed below and would like to race please contact Sophie if you are an F1 driver or Marion if you are a 2L Stock Car Driver.
Drivers please note that the pits open at 2pm and your early arrival will be appreciated. Drivers turning up in the last hour could well find themselves missing their first race. Please note you will not be able to save space in the pits and if you want to park with someone please make sure you turn up with them. Only race transporters will be allowed in the pits.

New world champion 390 Stuart Smith Jr heads a star-studded entry from the Kings of the Ovals. Smith claimed the gold roof in a consummate display at Skegness last weekend and will now turn his attention to defending the silver roof he won last year. It looked like Smith could be on for a clean sweep of all the sport’s major titles (as he also holds the British crown) but narrowly lost out in the European Championship on Sunday.
Stuart Smith 390 and family over joyed at winning the Gold, will be hoping to keep the silver this year
84 Tom Harris was the man who beat Smith to the Euro title, and the star of US sprint car racing could also have a big part to play in the destination of the silver roof. The Hitman is on form and, like Smith, is not afraid to use his bumpers. There could be fireworks between these two.
Tom Harris and Stuart Smith battled hard in last weeks European Championship
Currently leading the Shootout standings, thanks to his regular-season bonus points, is 515 Frankie Wainman Jr. It’s now 10 years since FWJ won the last of his 13 silver roofs. Will he be able to break that streak this year? He is joined among the Shootout runners by brother Danny (212) and son Frankie Jr Jr (555).
Shootout Series leader Frankie Wainman will be very keen to take back the silver roof
Top scorer at the opening Shootout round was 4 Dan Johnson, who also took yet another podium finish in the World Final last weekend. Known for his aggressive style, Johnson is always one to watch. Local man 16 Mat Newson is still searching for his first major title after so many years of being a contender. Piling up the points is one of his strengths, so he should be suited to the Shootout and if he can avoid trouble he will be among the favourites for silver.
4 Dan Johnson and 16 Mat Newson battled hard earlier this season
Shale expert 94 John Dowson Jr, form driver 220 Will Hunter, plus 259 Paul Hines – a man who usually goes well at King’s Lynn – and 217 Lee Fairhurst complete the Shootout runners.
220 Will Hunter's shale form is improving all the time as the season goes on
While the ‘Shooters’ concentrate on rattling each others’ teeth out, it could create opportunities for other drivers to come to the fore. Last year’s world champion 445 Nigel Green may be tough to beat, but hard-hitting 197 Ryan Harrison could be the one to do so. 169 Billy Johnson and 335 Mark Woodhull have good records around King’s Lynn, while 211 Phoebe Wainman should also go well. Cambridgeshire-based 76 Aaron Cozens and 415 Russell Cooper are both capable of scoring race wins at their local track.
Local man 415 Rusesell Cooper does well here
As usual at King’s Lynn, we are delighted to welcome some friends from across the North Sea. Dutchman H112 Arjan Ligthart and H447 Patrick Tersteeg, a former BriSCA F2 World of Shale champion, will add some spice to proceedings.
The F1 Shootout contest currently looks like:
Pos # Name Pts
1 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr 82
2 212 Daniel Wainman 73
3 4 Dan Johnson 73
4 555 Frankie Wainman Jnr Jnr 70

2 Litre Saloon Stock Cars
The Driver of the Year title will be defended by 730 Deane Mayes, who agonisingly lost out in the World Final at King’s Lynn last month when he was removed by a backmarker for the second time in four years. Winning the DotY would be some consolation to the British Champion but his eyes are probably more firmly set on winning a second national points crown.
The moment 730 Deane Mayes World Final title hopes disappear
Double DotY winner 641 Willie Skoyles, runner-up in the World Final last month, is another who will be a strong contender, both for the DotY and in the National Series, for which this meeting is a double points round.World champion 157 Max Stott will start at the front of the National Series runners, courtesy of his position in the national points chart, which has suffered due to a lack of form on shale. He will be out to prove that his world title triumph was no flash in the pan. Stott will be joined at the front of those with flashing lights on their roofs by 116 Diggy Smith, the veteran who holds the European Championship and was on top form at Skegness last weekend.
Expect 641 Willie Skoyles and 116 Diggy Smith to be amongst the action
Scottish National Series qualifiers 529 Jason Secker, 600 Barry Russell and 670 Ross Watters will all be making mammoth journeys to be in action. For Russell, it will be his 10th meeting of the season at the track, despite being based over 400 miles away.
600 Barry Russell a King's Lynn regular from his Scottish base
Last year’s world champion 306 Daniel Parker, the track championship leader, number two seed 399 Cole Atkins and local man 428 Lee Sampson complete the National Series field, with the latter a late call-up after the unfortunate injury-enforced absences of number one seed Michael Allard and replacement Carl Waterfield.
428 Lee Sampson was amongst the action last time out here
Final winner last time out 888 Shane Emerson, 570 Simon Venni – a very quick driver who also likes to get stuck in – plus 217 Sid Madgwick and 218 Jacob Downey are others who are a likely to be well on the pace and in contention for the DotY title, along with the always entertaining 26 Tommy Barnes.
888 Shane Emerson will be hoping for similar luck in the big race
Making his second appearance in a Saloon Stock Car, National Banger World of Shale champion 247 Lee Clarke will be one to keep an eye on.
Banger regular "Bro" takes on the 2 Litre Saloons this Saturday

1300cc Stock Cars
The little stock cars complete the bill and should provide plenty of their own bumper-bashing action. Much of the winning this season has been done by visiting superstars or the lower-graded drivers starting at the front of the pack, but the national points is boiling down into a very tight contest. World of Shale champion 216 Dan Booth leads the way by just four points over first-time red-grader 390 Karl Morris and defending champion 450 Luke Jackson a further two behind, with 149 Todd Payne and 422 Martin Taylor also firmly in contention. Each will be looking to gain the upper hand this weekend.
Expect lots of action from the 1300 Stock Cars
They won’t have things easy against Taylor’s fellow blue-tops 317 Lauren Overy and 400 Kevin Shinn in particular, while yellow grader 303 Jacob Bromley could be one to watch after dominating from the whites last time out.
400 Kevin Shinn is often in amongst the action
