Introduction
Stock Car and Banger Racing action returns to the Adrian Flux Arena this weekend (Saturday, 3 October, 6pm) with three championship titles on the line. The crowd-pleasing Micro Bangers contest their UK Championship final, while the title of King of the Fens is up for grabs in the Two-Litre (non-Mondeo) Bangers. Two-Litre Saloon Stock Cars compete for the Bumper Trophy.
There are currently 82 Micro Bangers, 44 2L Stock Cars and 33 2L (Non Mondeo) Bangers booked in.
We are currently expecting 82 Micro Bangers, 44 2L Stock Cars and 33 2L (Non Mondeo) Bangers to be in action.
Please note that any driver turning up who is not booked in to race will not receive any start money or complimentary admissions if they are entitled to them.
Any driver who is booked in to race and who does not race and fails to cancel their booking will have to pay a fine before they are allowed to race again.
Bookings and cancelations can be made by E Mailing trackstar@norfolkarena.co.uk or by phoning / texting 07939 580652.
Micro Bangers
The big entry is headed by defending UK Champion 390 David Gibson who won the title last year as part of a superb run of form that had already taken him to the World title, seen him challenging at the top of both charts and featured success for his Mad Hatters team. Can Gibson defend his crown this weekend or will hometown driver Darren Fendley emulate his feat of a World and UK double?
390 David Gibson defends his Micro Banger UK crown this Saturday
Former UK Champion 337 Ashley Garrod and brothers 338 Terry Garrod and 339 Jack Garrod will be among the favourites for success if they can steer clear of trouble which could well come in the shape of on-track rival 566 Tony Pallett.
339 Jack Garrod will be one of the pre meeting favorites
Gibson’s Mad Hatters team-mate 399 Jonny Atkin is a likely contender and 830 Lee White is another who will fancy his chances. A strong challenge comes from RDC-based drivers 26 Daniel Holmes, 36 Ricky and 37 Dave Lewis, 51 James Licquorice, 95 Anton Martin, 104 Paul Brown.
830 Lee White & 691 Ryan Bartrun will both fancy their chances on Saurday
On the entertainment front, look no further than Micro specialist 851 Adam Storr, who is sure to set sparks flying, and 155 Sam Coote who should be in the thick of the action.
155 Sam Coote is always in the middle of the action
Further entries from Team Bash, the Salhouse Breakers, the Gremlins and the Aftermath, not to mention a whole host more locals who love nothing better than a good crash, should ensure that this is a very lively session indeed.
Two-Litre (non-Mondeo) Bangers
The popular non-Mondeo format ensures more variety on track and cars that are likely to bend a bit more too. Many of the entries in this class are racing in Micro Bangers too, so top marks to them for the effort.
Those doubling-up include all three Garrod brothers and Fendley, no doubt in part down to their pursuit of the National Points Championship, which is beginning to reach its climax.
World Champion 673 Darren Fendley will be one of several drivers racing both Micro and 2L Bangers on Saturday
Gibson, Martin, Pallett, White, 256 Mark Ginders, 376 Jason Farthing, 418 Simon Eglen and 551 Brett Jackson will also be bringing two cars to race on the night.
Non-Mondeo specialist 557 Paul Bowen should be one to watch, while Gladiators pairing 349 Lewis Price and 747 Liam Hard will be lively.
Expect a lively performance from the Gladiators 349 Lewis Price
Regularly the star of the show at these meetings is 392 Sam Baines, while 695 Mark Mason completes the Mad Hatters presence.
392 Sam Baines is often the star of the show at these events
A relatively rare appearance in this category comes from 960 Ross Winsor.
Two-Litre Saloon Stock Cars
The hard-hitting action served up by the Two-Litre Saloon Stock Cars is second to none, with large turnouts and excellent racing at each and every meeting. With additional prize money funded by generous sponsorship, the Bumper Trophy has attracted an excellent field including a number of newcomers. We welcome 14 John Riley, 111 Andrew Arthurton, 147 James Dexter, 238 Patrick Fitzakerley and 448 Martin Kibble.
They will all have their work cut out to compete with local experts 641 Willie Skoyles Jr, who recently won the Driver of the Year title, British Champion 428 Lee Sampson and his brother 149 Jamie, both of whom are former winners of the Bumper Trophy.
641 Willie Skoyles will be full of confidence after winning the Driver of the Year last time out
National Champion 499 David Aldous and 26 Tommy Barnes complete the entry of former winners of the title. Aldous will be aiming to move one step closer to his sixth consecutive King’s Lynn Track Championship.
Will 26 Tommy Barnes win the title for the second time?
Form man 321 Marcus Skeels would cap off a fantastic debut season if he is successful on Saturday night. With four race wins in the last two meetings, he must fancy his chances, but an upgrade to blue will make things a little harder. Going in the other direction, brother 124 Ollie Skeels will hope to make hay from the yellow grade.
321 Marcus Skeels would cap of a wonderful couple of months for himself with victory on Saturday.
English Champion 304 Martyn Parker and son 306 Daniel Parker are always contenders on a track they have had plenty of success at, while 128 Craig Banwell has had an excellent season and would love to seal it by adding his name to the roll of honour.
Can English Champion 304 Martyn Parker add another title to his lists of successes on Saturday night?
Former National Banger superstars 349 Michael Allard and 730 Deane Mayes are now well overdue their names on a trophy such as this, having been front-line contenders in the formula for some time.
730 Deane Mayes is well overdue a big race success
Returning for the first time since a monster rollover in the National Championship is 512 Darren Barnett.
512 Darren Barnett returns for the first time since his monster roll over in the National Championship
Free Fairground Rides for the Kids
There will be free fairground ride at King's Lynn to help ensure that they have plenty to do before the meeting and between races. The good news for mum and dad is that going on the ride is free!
