Hot on the heels of last weekend’s all-Volvo Banger bash, there’s another big weekend of action at the Adrian Flux Arena, King’s Lynn, beginning on Saturday night (4 August, 5pm) with the first BriSCA Formula One World Championship semi-final. With fantastic support provided by two-litre Saloon Stock Cars and BriSCA Formula Two, stock car racing fans will be converging on King’s Lynn from all over the country – and beyond. This year's World Championship Semi Final is sponsored by Business Finance Brokers Ltd. Get more information on them by visiting their Website here
There are currently 52 BriSCA F1 Stock Cars, 36 2L Stock Cars and 31 BriSCA F2 Stock Cars booked in to race

BriSCA Formula One
The main event at this weekend’s meeting will feature 24 drivers giving their all to secure a place on the grid for the biggest race of the year, the World Championship final. Having topped the qualifying points by a relatively narrow margin, national points champion 390 Stuart Smith Jr had the privilege of choosing his semi-final and he plumped for the nation’s premier shale venue – King’s Lynn.
Multi Champion 390 Stuart Smith has elected to pick the King's Lynn Semi Final
Smith has been in dominant form in 2018, averaging a win at every meeting he’s contested, and will clearly start as favourite. But alongside the Rochdale man is Norfolk’s own 16 Mat Newson, who amazingly is still chasing his first major title. He’s come close more times than he’d care to remember, and none closer than when he led the British Championship virtually from start to finish at Belle Vue a few weeks ago, only to lose out to a huge last-bend lunge from that man Smith. Is now the time for Newson to seek revenge or will he be more focused on the World?
Will fellow front row starter 16 Matt Newson get his revenge on Smith for being dumped out of the British Championship?
The first of two Wainmans, 212 Danny, will start on the inside of row two, from where he could easily secure a good result that would set him up to challenge for a first major title. His nephew, 555 Frankie Wainman Jr Jr, starts directly behind and will have similar intentions.
555 Frankie Wainman Jnr Jnr will have intentions of a good finish to mount a challenge for the World next month
Between them is the first of another family pairing, fans’ favourite and local man, 326 Mark Sargent. Sarge will be joined on the grid by his teenaged son Finn (526) who has so impressed in his debut year in the Big League. Finn will be making his first F1 appearance at King’s Lynn and will consider any result a bonus from his back-row starting slot.
Will fans favorite 326 Mark Sargent have anything to cheer following the Saturday's Semi Final?
Alongside FWJJ on row is 2013 world champion 84 Tom Harris. The Hitman, who is now also a star in American sprint car racing, took that title at King’s Lynn, so has very fond memories of the track.
84 Tom "The Hitman" Harris is likely to be ruffling some feathers on a track he flies round on Saturday night
On row four are two men who go well at King’s Lynn, often slightly under the radar. 21 Mark Gilbank was a final winner at the track last season, while 192 Luke Dennis made the most of the double-points world championship wild card rounds earlier this year in his terrific start to the season.
192 Luke Dennis goes very well around King's Lynn
Beyond them come plenty more threats. 197 Ryan Harrison could upset a few of those in front from his row five start, while Lynn specialist 335 Mark Woodhull is on row six, alongside 2011 world champion 2 Paul Harrison.

From near the back of the grid, Newson’s fellow Norfolk local 372 Colin Goodswen will be hoping to make the most of any casualties further forward. Just behind him, 166 Bobby Griffin could be one to watch whilst 446 Joe Booth always goes well around King's Lynn.
446 Joe Booth is happy to battle with the best around King's lynn
There also some drivers making rare appearances on the loose, including 346 Ashley England and 186 Todd Jones. It will be interesting to see what machinery they have at their disposal, and how well they go from mid-grid positions.
Of course, it’s not all about the World Semi-Final, as a full format meeting will run alongside. There we will see a first King’s Lynn appearance of the season for world champion 445 Nigel Green. The full complement of Wainmans is completed by father 515 Frankie Jr and daughter 211 Phoebe. It could be a big night for FWJ who will secure a £1000 bonus if he becomes the first man to win a hat-trick of finals at the track. Frankie missed out on the big purse a couple of years ago after taking two in a row in 2016, while big rival Stuart Smith Jr was also denied in our 2018 season-opener, having taken the last two finals of 2017.
Can 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr become the first driver to win three consecutive finals at King's Lynn this Saturday
Several more drivers will be wishing they were part of the main event, instead of having drawn the tarmac semi-final. 259 Paul Hines, 94 John Dowson Jr and 45 Nigel Harrhy will be set to show what might have been.
The meeting final will see drivers racing for the Wilf Blundell Bowl and the Grand National will be for the Wild Blundell Trophy.
Two-Litre Saloon Stock Cars
The Heavy Metal Brigade have their final outing before the big one, their World Championship Final, which will be staged at the same track a fortnight later. Will this be a time to get some practice in, settle a score a two or lay down a marker?
Expect there to be some scores settled in the 2L Stock Cars this Saturday who make their final Lynn appearance before the World Final.
The usual galaxy of stars will be joined by a few drivers with much less experience of the spiritual home of Saloon Stock Cars, as they seek to find their way around before returning for the big event. They include English champion 27 Kieren Bradford and his fellow West Country driver 276 Ben King.
But the more likely frontrunners should be the top locals. The bulging champions’ grade is completed by Norfolk quartet 306 Daniel Parker (world), 116 Diggy Smith (European), 730 Deane Mayes (British) and 349 Michael Allard (UK, World of Shale and ORC).
349 Michael Allard should be challenging for top honours
With an extremely competitive star grade featuring the likes of 218 Jacob Downey, 360 Carl Waterfield, 428 Lee Sampson and 641 Willie Skoyles Jr, the sparks should certainly by flying from the back half of the grid.
218 Jacob Downey has been in great form recently and was a heat winner last Saturday
That might allow some of the lower-graded drivers to escape in the early laps. Indeed, the yellow tops in particular have had a very good record at the track this year, although admittedly most of the drivers have since been upgraded. Form drivers 172 Jack Rust and 888 Shane Emerson will be hoping to keep their good runs going, despite now having to start from blue.
2018 has seen some great performances from 172 Jack Rust
BriSCA Formula Two
With big entries from the other two formulas, and the importance of their meetings, only a restricted entry of BriSCA F2s could be accepted for this meeting. But in their first appearance at the track since April, it is a star-studded line-up who will be sure to put an excellent show.
National points champion 7 Gordon Moodie leads the way, and over the past 18 months he has re-established himself to be as good as anyone on shale.
In recent months 7 Gordon Moodie has re-established himself as one of F2 Stock Cars top performers on shale
The shale specialists are headed by 226 Billy Webster, polesitter for the World of Shale championship later this year. Current World of Shale champion 225 Tony Blackburn will join his running mate, as will fellow Yorkshireman 377 Daz Shaw.
226 Billy Webster has had such good form on shale in 2018 he has been seen jumping for joy!
From closer to home come leading local 103 Carl Issitt and his son Pat (113), plus multiple Superstox champion 682 Jason Cooper.
Multiple Superstox Champion 682 Jason Cooper continues to be a regular shale F2 performer
Other blue-graders who could be a threat include 55 Courtney Finnikin and 995 Michael Lund, both final winners at the track in the past year, and the on-form 12 Daniel Ford.
Don’t discount those from the front of the grid either. 235 Bradley Blyth and 277 Billy Banwell have shown plenty of pace at the track in the past, while 321 Marcus Skeels looks significantly under-graded.
