2L Stock Cars
After Saturday night’s qualifying, the National Championship will be on the line on Sunday afternoon. Who will have qualified on the favoured front few rows of the grid and who will have to fight their way through from further back?
World Champion 499 David Aldous goes in search of his first National crown to move him within one step of a career grand slam. This one in particular he would love to add to his CV, to emulate his father Eddy who claimed the title at Ipswich in 1984.
Can 499 David Aldous take his first National title at the Adrian Flux Arena on Sunday?
Only 219 Luke Grief and 428 Lee Sampson are former winners of the title who are racing this weekend (defending champion 401 Steve Webster is currently injured) so we may well see a new name on the trophy. There are a huge number of candidates as to who that may be, including the likes of 304 Martyn Parker, 306 Daniel Parker and 360 Carl Waterfield who have won other titles on shale before.
Lee sampson won the National Title at King's Lynn back in 2007. Can he add it to the British he won at Taunton earlier this year this coming Sunday?
The likes of 149 Jamie Sampson and 641 Willie Skoyles Jr are overdue their first major success in the formula, while 6 Simon Welton, 344 Ross Fisher and 591 Aaron Morris are former 1300cc Stock Car World Champions so know how to perform on the big occasion.
641 Willie Skoyles Jnr - well overdue a major title in 2L Stock Cars
698 Danny Colliver, who won the British Under-25 title at the track earlier this year, and 730 Deane Mayes are vying for this year’s National Points crown, but would love to claim another major title before the destiny of the silver roof is settled.
730 Deane Mayes - likely to be in the hunt for majotr honours
Once again, travelling interest comes in the shape of 811 Kieran McIvor (Ireland), and 85 Kyle Irvine, 600 Barry Russell and 670 Ross Watters (all Scotland). They may not be regulars on the loose surfaced tracks but don’t write them off. Russell in particular loves the shale and was a final winner at King’s Lynn this time last year.
After the National Championship race, attention will turn to the prestigious Steve Newman Memorial, a trophy that every driver wants to win in memory of their fallen colleague, but is particularly poignant to Steve’s cousin 912 Andi Newman. Aldous and Morris were the first two winners of the trophy; who will win this weekend?
Many drivers will be going all out to win the Steve Newman Memorial trophy but none more so than Steve's cousin 912 Andi Newman
1300cc Stock Cars
The smaller stock cars contest their own version of the Steve Newman Memorial, as Steve spent many years in this category too. The title was won last year by Spedeworth visitor 167 Jimmy Morris. With a Spedeworth meeting at Aldershot, Jimmy will be unable to defend the shield on Sunday.
The inaugural winner was 341 Austen Freestone who was a race winner at Coventry a couple of weeks ago and should be in contention once again, along with brother 340 Wes Freestone who has been the benchmark at King’s Lynn for the past 18 months or so. Their younger brother Ryley, now running under #342, will also be appearing this weekend.
340 Wes Freestone will be keen to get his hands on the Steve Newman Memorial shield on Sunday
Norwich-based lady racer 653 Gemma Rainer will continue her unrivalled appearance record as she keeps the pressure on Wes Freestone in the race for the silver roof, while recent Trackstar returnee 218 Richard Smith could be one to watch from the back of the grid.

Starting much nearer the front, 379 Ben Whitehall has been a revelation since joining the formula and won last time out at the track. He will be aiming to keep up that form after a promotion to the blue grade.
379 Ben Whitehall has been a revelation from the white grade - how will he perform from the blues for the first time on Sunday?
Two-Litre (non-Mondeo) Bangers
The non-Mondeo format is popular with drivers and spectators alike, who like to see a bit more variety on track, as well as cars that bend. Expect to see a collection of Hondas, Rovers, Nissans, Vauxhalls and few other more unusual cars.
Several of the drivers in action will be on their second car of the weekend, having raced in the Unlimited Bangers the night before.
Garrod brothers 337 Ashley and 338 Terry will again be the men to beat as they are currently locked together at the top of the National Points standings. Non-Mondeo specialists 26 Daniel Holmes, 116 Nat Cohn and 557 Paul Bowen should also be challenging at the sharp end.
337 Ashley Garrod is currently enjoying a fantastic battle at the head of the banger national points with his brother 338 Terry Garrod
Towards the front of the grid, some of the biggest entertainers are found. The likes of Aftermath duo 551 Brett Jackson and 604 Ross Cooper will be good bets for entertainers awards, as will 392 Sam Baines who loves to track Nissan Bluebirds in these meetings and is currently chasing Mad Hatters team-mate 390 David Gibson in the race for the Entertainers League crown.
Can 392 Sam Baines make up some ground in the Banger Entertainer League?
This meeting also represents the final World Championship qualifying round ahead of the big race two weeks later. With double race points and double attendance points on offer, everything is to play for to secure a place on the grid for the Two-Litre Bangers’ most prestigious race of the year.
Free Fairground Rides for the Kids
