Two-Litre Saloon Stocks
Following the previous night’s racing, the new British champion (whoever they may be) will be in action with black-and-white checks on their roof for the first time. That will surely make them something of a target on a poignant day, five years after 311 Steve Newman was lost on British championship night at Mildenhall.
The much missed 311 Steve Newman was always in the thik of the action and his Memorial Race is normally full of the action type rough and tumble which he enjoyed!
Defending the Steve Newman Memorial will be 570 Simon Venni. Barring major damage, we anticipate that the vast majority of the huge field from the previous night’s racing will be back in action – and most likely in ‘revenge mode.’ It should make for some spectacular action.
570 Simon Venni following his success in last year's memorial race - will he manage to repeat the success on Sunday
1300cc Stock Cars
The smaller stock cars contest their own version of the Steve Newman Memorial, as Steve is fondly remembered in that category too.
Defending the trophy is 149 Todd Payne but, as ever, there are plenty capable of taking it away from him. 161 Billy Smith has been dominant when he chooses to be and keeps himself out of trouble, but the Diss driver is set for a very busy weekend, having competed in both classes the night before too. It will be interesting to see if he is still at his sharpest on Sunday afternoon.
149 Todd Payne was the winner of the 1300 Stock Car Steve Newman Memorial race last year
World champion 333 Dan Weavers remains dangerous and will be looking to kick-start his season, while 400 Kevin Shinn, 422 Martin Taylor and 450 Luke Jackson are quick regulars who could be in the hunt.
From slightly nearer the front of the grid, 681 Dan Moore has shown fine form, while we welcome back to the formula 702 Allen Cooper.
681 Dan Moore has had an excellent campaign so far this season
Making the trek from Scotland having enjoyed themselves at King’s Lynn in the British championship last month are 67 Craig Haxton, 77 Jordan Cassie, 124 Andrew Mathieson and 680 Jock Whyte.
1500cc Bangers
The small-ish cars will be big on action with an entry comprised of a mixture of quick drivers looking to win, alongside plenty more who are simply here for a good crash and to entertain the crowd.
National points leader 830 Lee White will aim to consolidate his lead, while defending champion 88 Lyndon Stark and his brother 888 Lloyd Stark will be hoping to close the gap.
830 Lee White will be looking to consolidate his lead in the National Points
In the Entertainers League, Essex driver 514 Charlie Taylor leads the way and is sure to get stuck in, along with the likes of Predator 178 Kieran Bowman and 271 Ashlun Woods.
Expect 178 Kieran Bowman to be racking up the Entertainer Points
