Introduction
Following the postponement of the Wack Races on Easter Monday after electrical problems at the Adrian Flux Arena following Storm Katie, the Easter fun event will be restaged on Sunday 3 April - 1pm.
It is promisiing to be a great event with lots of cars booked in and some very special vehicles as well!
DRIVERS PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU WERE BOOKED IN TO RACE ON EASTER MONDAY ALL BOOKINGS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED AND YOU WILL NEED TO REBOOK ON 01553 771111 OR 07939 580652 TO GET YOUR BOOKING.
There are currently 45 2L Bangers, 33 4x4 SUV Bangers, 45 1300 Stock Cars and 14 Reliant Robins booked in to race.
Drivers please note that the pits open at 10am and your early arrival will be appreciated. Drivers turning up in the last hour could well find themselves missing their first race.
4x4 SUV Bangers
The turnout of 4x4s for their annual bash is set to surpass all expectations and smash previous records. The packed track should make for some spectacular action to thrill the bank holiday crowd.
4x4 SUV Bangers produce lots of spectacular action!
The final at last year’s event was won by 339 Jack Garrod, one of the stalwarts of the local scene, who will once again be in action alongside his brothers 337 Ashley and 338 Terry.
390 David Gibson & 337 Ashley Garrod exchange crunching head ons at last year's 4x4 meeting
312 ‘Turbo’ Tom Reynolds will look to get stuck in, as will Gypsy Crew members 82 Dave Norris, 273 Kevin McClagish, 372 Barry Overland and 411 Daniel Pegg.
4x4 Banger races are full of incident!
Some of the sport’s biggest crashing teams will be represented by 349 Lewis Price (Gladiators).
349 Lewis Price was in the DD in last year's 4x4 Banger meeting and was soon in the middle of the action.
Other drivers who excel in these kind of events are 851 Adam ‘Intimidator’ Storr, 155 Sam ‘Captain Slow’ Coote, 386 Sam Evans, 170 Chris Shipp, 230 Dean ‘Mr Mean’ Moljourd and 313 John Cullingford.
385 Paul Evans always excels at these type of events
Likely to score top marks for presentation – and they won’t be afraid of it getting spoilt during the afternoon – will be 791 Nicky Young and 888 Shaun Stark.
Two-Litre Bangers
The Commentators Cup is a long-standing tradition at Easter, with enhanced prize money up for grabs courtesy of the Oxby family. This meeting also represents the first World Qualifying Round of 2016, making it an important step on the road to gold for these drivers.
Last year's 2L Banger Commentator's Cup saw plenty of big wrecks including this battered example from 285 Sean Dyer
Many of the day’s drivers will be doubling-up in both Banger classes (several of them having raced on Saturday too). The Garrod brothers, and Atkin come into that category, so credit is due to them.
95 Anton Martin, 322 Tom Fox and 723 Joby Smith will also be doing double-duty on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile some of Price’s Gladiators team-mates will join him on the trip from Essex to race in the Mondeo-dominated category.
206 Phil Milner is part of a sizable Gladiator entry which is sure to inject lots of entertainment into the afternoon!
Two-Litre Banger specialists include the likes of 8 James Jackson, 26 Daniel Holmes and many of those associated with the Aftermath squad – 285 Sean Dyer, 551 Brett Jackson, 604 Ross and 701 Kevin Cooper.
Top local crashing team the Predators will be represented by 404 Luke Brinton, 479 Joel Allen and 519 Lee Middleton.
Expect 479 Joel Allan to be lively!
1300cc Stock Cars
The little Stock Cars appear on the way to their best ever season with unbelievable entries so far.
Heading the list of those hoping to uphold local honour is 216 Dan Booth who has been on awesome form in his new car since returning to the formula. 149 Todd Payne and 499 Gavin Payne will be frontrunners while 340 Wes Freestone and his brothers 341 Austen and 342 Ryley should also be in strong contention. 333 Dan Weavers is another who has started the season extremely well.
216 Dan Booth has had a very successful return to the formula in 2016
Others to watch out for from the blue grade are 704 Stuart Henderson and his returning stable-mate 702 Allen Cooper, plus father-and-son duo 673 John and 473 Dean Moat who are stalwarts of the formula.
From the front of the grid, 422 Martin Taylor will tough to beat as he has proved already this season. The health of the formula is exemplified by the size of the white grade, with newcomers constantly arriving. Amongst the debutants this weekend are two very exciting names. 511 Jack Licquorice, son of 1992 Saloon Stock Car World Champion Paul Licquorice, will be at the wheel of the car raced by Jodie Grief at the season opener. 317 Lauren Overy, daughter of current Unlimited Banger World Champion Jack Overy, is making her first appearance in the formula since graduating from Ministox last summer.
422 Martin Taylor could be difficult to catch from the whites
Reliant Robins
The crazy antics of the three-wheeled gang will be enough to have the crowd in fits of laughter. Rollovers-galore and shedding plastic bodywork are the names of the game here.
Reliant Robin racing is always spectacular!
Some drivers will still be out to win races, and the best of those are multi-champions 85 James Ellis and 553 Daniel Douglas.
Most of the rest of the field will be too busy crashing to know who’s doing the winning! 185 Ben ‘Killer’ Oliver and 490 Lee Barnard will be ones to watch.
Expect 185 Ben Oliver to be out to cause chaos
