Sad news - SSCA Secretary Marion Farrow

It is with deep sadness that we have to regretfully report that SSCA Secretary Marion Farrow peacefully passed away last night.

If there ever was someone who was deserving of the title of being an unsung hero of the sport it was Marion who for many years had tirelessly worked behind the scenes for the benefit of drivers.

Marion had a long association with Trackstar which can be traced back to the 1980s. After making a complaint to promoter Vince Moodie at Cleethorpes, it was not long before she displayed her trademark willingness not to be one who moaned on the sidelines but would always get involved to help make things better and she found herself working on the turnstiles at the seaside venue.

For the next twenty years along with husband John, Marion became a valued member of the team at Trackstar. Always looking at things from the drivers point of view she became the Stock Rod rep before going on to argue the case for BriSCA F2 Stock Cars drivers – a formula she always retained a strong affection for – and then went on to the Saloons.

All the behind the scenes work was accompanied by both Marion and John working as Clerk of the Course at tracks throughout the Trackstar world where Marion and her red wellies ensured discipline was maintained and such was the high regard that Marion was held in even the toughest of Banger drivers would not quibble with any instructions she gave!

In more recent years Marion remained a great friend of Trackstar whilst also taking on the wider role of being SSCA Secretary – a role she loved and as everything she had done before was done with 100% enthusiasm. There probably isn’t a Saloon driver out there that Marion has not sorted out problems for or just listened to their frustrations. In her SSCA role – like with her role with any other formula she has been involved with – Marion’s personality earned her the love and respect of all drivers, officials and promoters she came into contact with.

Marion will never be forgotten by those in the sport she devoted so much to.

Marion was aided in all the above by husband John and everyone at Trackstar would like to extend their deepest condolences to John and to her many friends and family.
