Racing Preview

Tthis Saturday night, a “frightfully” good night of racing coming up, some “spooktacular” action on the cards, it’s Halloween Carnival Night…. What a night!

Unlimited Banger action is back in a big way with around 80 cars currently scheduled for action. The biggest stars, in the biggest cars, the biggest action! Over 40 1300cc all action Stock Cars, the bumpers will go in, the fence will rattle and the sparks will fly! The crazy Reliant Robins rounding off the line up, yes three wheeled racing! When they roll, they roll big! This is going to be a brilliant night of motorised carnage, along with the fancy dress parade and HUGE firework display, a superb night for all the family …we hugely appreciate you joining us. Thank you for coming, we’re sure you will love it.

As a quick introduction if you’re not familiar; the Bangers are essentially old scrap road cars. They’re cleared out of all the trim inside and then built to race – racing, crashing and wrecking is very much part of the game as these machines get one more chance at glory; there really isn’t too many rules when racing.  You will likely recognise a lot of cars out there today, maybe you even drove one of them; mainly Mercedes, Ford Scorpios, Jaguars. Something more unusual in the form of Hearses and Limos will be joining us too! The Stock Cars are armoured up machines, shells of road cars with steel bumpers all around, races consist of pile ups, track blockages and rollovers. Using the bumper is part and parcel of the racing, move the competition before you’re moved yourself! - a brilliant spectacle which all the family will love! The drivers will typically – in most races - will start in graded order, the best/ quickest drivers at the back, the least experienced/ those with least points start at the front. A set amount of laps to complete, the first driver to do all the laps, wins! The Bangers will then finish the day with a Destruction Derby, last one moving wins!

The Bangers will start the night with a return of the Supernatural Championship; a race specifically for Hearse or Limo cars, we anticipate being able to run this again as indications are we will be well into double figures of the machines expected. Nicky Young (791) took the win in this last year, his cars are always well presented and hoping to bring another Hearse for battle this year; he does love the more typically ‘fun’ events. The Bangers will also race for the 25 years old and Under Championship, a full grid anticipated for this and a hard fought competition too; Blake Platts (459) won this one last year, and certainly one of the rising stars of the sport – topping the World of Shale qualifying points might be the highlight so far, but if he can do this one two in a row, it could top that. The night will finish with the King of the Fens Feature Final; some of the Sport’s best racers have topped the podium in this event. Who will be lifting the trophy this time.

In the 1300 Stock Cars, they will race for the World of Shale crown, a title rightfully back on the Trackstar King’s Lynn stage after being ‘on loan’ for a number of years. The class are phenomenal and are one of, if not, the Stock Car class to watch around King’s Lynn. Big grids, big hits. This is going to be good from them! A new name set to be add to the roll of honour, with no previous winners taking to the track – who will come out on top? In this class, it’s anyone’s guess! The night will finish with a Dash for the Cash, a prize fund of at least £600 at the time of writing, which the winner will take home the lion share of. Our thanks to TM Browne and 623 Installations for their contributions to the fund.

The Reliant Robins will join us, yes really… three wheeled racers! Keeping a car upright and at racing speed will be quite a challenge, when these cars roll, they roll big – Del Boy would be proud! Around 20 of them scheduled at the time of writing which is incredible in the modern era really – when did you last see one on the road? Daniel Douglas (553) will be one of the favourites; he’s one of the top drivers of the class and a multi-champion. We will be joined by regular Reliant Robin racers, stalwarts of the class; Ian Robins (96) and Lee Barnard (490) plus a whole host more, they will be in the mix for sure! Give them a cheer, the louder you are, the bigger they roll!

Good luck to them all, It looks to be another great night of action here, Enjoy the racing, until next time. Stay safe.
