Unlimited Bangers
Since its revival two years ago, the War of the Worlds has provided fantastic action guaranteed. Something of a ‘summer Icebreaker’ but with warmer weather and a six-a-side format that’s unique in the modern era, the event is hugely popular with racers and fans alike.
Last year's Unlimited Banger War of the Worlds was a great event with lots of action and handshakes in every race
Last year, Team Black reclaimed the title for the first time since its inaugural running in 2000. 103 Jack Deacon claimed the meeting final to clinch the crown and, with the outfit expanding to two teams this year, he heads the ‘B’ line-up, along with fellow 2017 winners 67 Rickie Beasley and 760 Joey Reynolds. Completed by big names 17 Kyle Overy, 262 Buddy James and 450 Glyn Platts, it’s an incredibly strong team that will take some beating.
103 Jack Deacon clinched the title for Team Black with a final win last year - expect him to feature strongly for the team again!
Team Black’s ‘A’ squad includes the legendary 617 Jack Overy (a member of last year’s winning team), plus nephew 356 Harry Overy and south-west stars 362 Jonnie James and 907 Cameron Bradford in another super-strong line-up.
362 Jonny James always puts in a crashing performance whenever he appears at King's Lynn
Runners-up last year, 22 Dave Vincent’s Team 22 will be hoping to go one better in 2018 with a team that has a good mix of racers and crashers, and the same can be said for the Dover Boys, led by the super-quick trio of 188 John Reeves, 673 Darren Fendley and 898 Andy Battle.
Expect the Dover Boys led by 188 John "Victor" Reeves to be big contenders
Winners two years ago, 160 Shayn Winsor’s VS Massive will look to get back to winning ways with another power-packed team also including 326 Shane Lynn and 328 Daniel Lathan.
VS Massive were the Unlimited Banger War of the Worlds Winners two years ago and 160 Shayn Winsor will be looking to reclaim top honours
It’s not all about the overall title though. No, the day’s Entertainers’ League has really spiced things up in the past couple of years, producing plenty of crowd-pleasing big hits. Crowd favourites Team Sowter/Filmer will aim to retain their title, led as ever by 388 Taylor Sowter and the Filmer brothers.
Team Sowter / Filmer won the Entertainer League last year - they will be short price favorites to repeat that success
Legendary local team the Predators will be led into action by 178 Kieran Bowman, with entertaining the only thing on their minds, while fellow locals the Dirtbagz will also be sure to get stuck in, as will Team Orange & White.
Expect 662 Dalton Smith and Team Orange & White to be heavily involved in the action
Travellers from all over the country will add further spice to the proceedings, with Icebreaker favourites the Demons making the trip from the West Midlands and Team Badger coming all the way from Wales.
355 Martin Mullins and the fantastic Demons are one of the visiting teams making the trip to be with us
The Northern-based Wild Boyz make their regular trip down to the Adrian Flux Arena. With the squad also including the likes of local favourite 791 Nicky ‘Spud’ Young, they will be ones to watch and could be in the running for the Entertainers’ League.
2 Litre Stock Cars
The hard hitting 2 Litre Stock Cars return as we get ever close to their World Final weekend event here (18th/ 19th August). Once again a full grid of drivers with most of the sports big names and title holders in attendance, getting all important track time.
2L Stock Cars never disappoint with action aplenty in every race
Last time out Shane Emerson (888) took a fine win in the whites and yellows race here two weeks ago, following up his Under 25 Championship win earlier this year - it’s good to see him back on form.
888 Shane Emerson has been in good form recently
Willie Skoyles (641) and Lee Sampson (428) took the heat wins last time, before Carl Waterfield (360) raced to an excellent final win. All are scheduled to join us again as more and more drivers try to stake their claim for the World final race.
360 Carl Waterfield was the winner of the meeting final last time out - can he double up on Saturday?
Jack Rust (172) had an excellent meeting last time out, two second places followed up with a good finish in the final, the white grader will be looking to continue this form. Sid Madgwick (217) also had a good run out to decent results last meeting.
172 Jack Rust has been fantastic and was unlucky not to get a win last time out
Long distance traveller Barry Russell (600) has joined us at each of 2 litre stock car fixtures this and is very welcome in joining us once more, no mean feat from his Scotland base. A final winner here this year, he will be looking to find the form now he’s in the Star grade at the back.
Scotland's 600 Barry Russell has not missed a meeting at King's Lynn in 2018
European Champion Diggy Smith (116) and Tommy Barnes (26) are always thick amongst the action and not one to shy away from using the bumper. Likewise with Simon Venni (570) who is more than happy to use the bumper when needed.
European Champion 116 Diggy Smith is never afraid to use the bumper!
Add in to the mix other top drivers like Jacob Downey (218), World Champion Daniel Parker (306), Michael Allard (349) and Deane Mayes (730); it will be another top night of fence clattering action from the Stock Cars.
Expect 349 Michael Allard to be chasing top honours
Reliant Robins
You heard us right - three wheeled racers! These are a fan favourite – when these cars roll, they roll big! The formula makes a rare appearance, only the second time with us this year.
Reliant Robin races are full of action!
The last outing Scott Russell (3) took two wins out of three, winning heat and final; he joins the star studded lined up which features some of the formula’s biggest names. Leading the charge is national points champion Roy Gedge (385) and arguable the formulas top driver, while Daniel Douglas (553) also has a list of big wins to his credit and current holder of the World of Shale championship - which he defends here in August.
Expect 553 Daniel Douglas to be heavily involved in the action
Lee Barnard (490) and Colin Aldred (576) are always worth watching and usually in amongst the action; as is Chalky Douglas (554) who really got stuck in last time out!
