Preview- Matt Black
Well here we go for what should be a cracking domestic meeting with four cracking formulas taking centre stage for Saturday night’s Golden Gridlock meeting. The main event of the night is the Lady Bangers Gold Roof final for 2025 and we see our biggest grid of ladies take to the track. The front row of the grid will see young hot shot 150 Katelyn Parrin take her place on pole position, she has had an amazing year and continues to go from strength to strength and clearly she has been teaching Harvey Barrow how to drive as he put in a good performance at the Unlimited World Of Shale. Katelyn will start as a short priced favourite to strike gold, and that will continue to enhance her reputation as one of the top up and coming drivers in the sport, the turn of pace she has shown this season wouldn’t see her out of place in all forms of Bangers. Joining Katelyn on the front row is 298 Bryoni Chapman who has been mightily impressive during the current campaign, and no doubt again will be merc powered and will have a strong go at this. 488 Codie Reeves and 502 Becca Bitson will be two drivers who will be giving it absolutely everything and having both having the taste for gold I’m sure they will be well up for mounting a challenge in this. Becca of course is the defending champion, and has all the tools to mount a serious title defence, whilst 488 Codie has already had success this season in the 1600cc equivalent. 626 Kayleigh, 85, Danielle and 419 Quadderz are three more drivers who will come into this feeling that they can take the honours, and it would certainly be no surprise if all three were able to get the job done, in fact 419 Laura was mightily close to getting the job done last year until she got caught up and taking out of the running. A total of 27 ladies are taking to the field which comprises of 22 qualifiers and a further 5 drivers who will join us for the all comers a little later into the evening, which certainly makes for interesting watching for sure, it’s been a very good season for the ladies, and this looks set to be a great meeting and way to end their season.
The 1600cc Bangers have plenty to play for in their last qualifier before they head into their big National Championship in December, there is plenty to play for with the battle at the top of the points extremely close. Currently it’s 275 Joel Bond who leads the way and he is having the season of his life with a season so far that has produced plenty with some very good points hauls and some devastating displays on the entertainment front, and he really has been a shining light here at Trackstar this season, however hot on his heels is a driver who could potentially be in the form of his career, “Golden Boy” Garry Lown has been in very good form this year with some good race wins and some very good finishes to back it up and continue to grab his points by the bucket load, it will be a close run thing between 275 Joel and 311 Garry, but waiting in the wings is the unlikely hero 196 Eddie Farrow, who has been brilliant during this campaign and should Joel and Garry trip up, you can bet that Eddie will be hot on their heels to strike and try his upmost to claim those all important points to grab the points title, one thing is for certain is that it will definitely be an interesting watch. In the entertainers league 479 Joel Allen will look to hunt down 39 Ryan Knibbs who has been brilliant in the current campaign, probably two of the biggest hitters in the formula this year, and Joel has a big gap to bridge and it could be a lead that is too much to reign in, but when Joel is at his best there isn’t many who can hit harder than him, and if having one of his standout days like at the recent 1600cc teams it could be a gap that he could close, however Ryan has been very good this year, and despite having a car in 1600’s and 2 Litres today it could be a case of one good race may seal the entertainer points title.
The 2 Litre Bangers look like they will be on a destructive path on Saturday night with some big hitters booked in to race 112 Daz Prestage, 133 Malakie Cullum, 372 James Cable, 623 Ricky Hutton and 910 Jack Rookard will certainly be drivers to keep an eye on throughout the night and have all produced some hard hitting performances in recent memories, there are plenty of sub plot stories for these bangers tonight though………..will 910 cross paths with Team Mates, 28 Mac, 785 Dom and 830 Stretch have become quite the force in the 2 Litres over the last couple of years, and all three look set to mount a serious challenge when it comes to qualifying for the 2026 2 Litre World Final. There has been some grade changes which could see the likes of 552 Karl Douglas finally get a change of fortune, 687 Mark Cross has gone up to Superstar flashing lights and I think it’s fair to say none of us would ever here the end of it if he was able to grab a win from back there, but Crossy has had a cracking season with us so far, and continues to put in some top displays. 296 Thomas Jennings and 248 Jamie Blything are other drivers who will start in the highest grade, and both have shown no signs of stopping yet, and they will be two drivers who you would expect to mount a serious challenge for the 2 Litre points for 2026. 50 Reece Laybourn has risen through the grades and can boast a good amount of points, along with them expect 26 Dan Holmes, 126 Dan Bowley and 128 Andrew Shipp to be amongst the front runners for the night.
The Junior Bangers have been superb in this current campaign and we have a superb 56 cars booked in for Saturday night’s meeting, which will see us run a full format for the Juniors. 08 Taylor Morton looks set to grab the silver roof this year, he has been in top form throughout the current campaign, and it’s always good to see a driver go from strength to strength, and Taylor is a driver who has done just that, however he will have his work cut out for this meeting. It’s great to see so many youngsters work there way through the ranks, and tonight we’re in a position to be able to welcome drivers who don’t get the opportunity to race King’s Lynn very often which is always nice. We look forward to a great night of action, and I’m sure you will all come and support what is on paper a really good night of action. Domestic meetings always get overlooked, but they often provide some of the best entertainment that you will see. Hopefully we see as many of you as possible for a great night of action.
