The Wacky Race - which take place at King's Lynn every Easter Monday; the meeting sees the annual appearance of the 4x4 SUV Bangers. As you can imagine these are bigger than the regular cars and produce some fantastic racing and action which is loved by the crowd. Regular Banger Racing comes from the TSR Bangers; true chaos from the Banger Stars with a large field anticipated, you won't know where to look. The Reliant Robins will also be providing their own branch of chaos! It is difficult enough getting one car around the King's Lynn track at speed on four wheels never mind three! Rollovers and crazy action are commonplace in what is billed as Motor Racing's craziest Grand Prix! The three wheeler was made iconic through the popular "Only Fools and Horses" comedy - you can just see Del Boy - "You Plonkers!". And finally, Stock Car action rounds out the day coming from the bumper-happy, fence rattling 1400cc Stock Cars; lots of cars and lots action from these armoured machines. There are 69 TSR Bangers, 13 4X4 Bangers, 17 Reliant Robins and 57 1400 Stock Cars booked to race; first race 1pm.
Preview by Matt Black
Monday 6th April see’s the return of the Reliant Robins and 4x4’s with decent numbers in both classes. The Douglas boys will be bang at it as they attempt to have a go at getting championships under their belts again in 2026. 385 Roy Gedge had a season to remember in 2026 with some really good displays and finally grabbing the World Of Shale after years of trying. Roy has been at the top of his game for some time now and is certainly a driver to watch out for on Bank Holiday Monday, a very good driver who will take all the beating again. 553 Danny Douglas is one of the best to have ever done it in the Reliant Robins with title after title landed, and no doubt he will be looking to get back on track in 2026 with more titles under his belt. 197 Tommy Tatham was back in 2025 and put in some cracking efforts throughout the campaign, and he will look to build on that for this years campaign. 117 Lee Reynolds was a standout performer for last season in every aspect of Banger racing, and then became a great addition to the Robin scene last year, and no doubt will once again be in full force for the season ahead. 106 Olly Betts and 230 Kevin Stahrr were absolutely superb back in October at the Halloween meeting, and no doubt they will be putting on a show once again come Monday afternoon.
The 4x4’s will take on a couple of our crazy races in the form of our spin to start race, and that will be followed by the spin the leader race in the final before they round off with a destruction derby to finish the afternoon off. The likes of 51 “The Duck” will be firing on all cylinders and entertaining the crowd throughout the afternoon, and the same can be said for the lively 791 “Spud”, both drivers really do enjoy a good crash and this meeting is always right up their street and they as per usual will go home with wrecked motors. 171 Andy Frost, 699 Dave Fisher, and 669 Will Cartwright will all be out to impress, 721 Dan Clarke is a regular at this meeting, and will be a busy boy as he has two formulas to contend with, and Ashley Garrod will be one who will be scoring heavy points throughout the day in this quest to defend his National Points Championship.
The 1400 Stock Cars continue to show their merit as one of the top formulas; the biggest turnouts for a while with over 55 cars currently booked; the World Championship scheduled here in a couple of months time, the King’s Lynn track will play host to another fantastic year for the formula. Jacob Bromley (303) will lead the charge displaying the Silver roof as he sets to defend his points crown. Jimmy Morris (167) will look to take the fight to him; the 167 machine was a race winner in the meeting final at the Season Opener and he will certainly have his eyes set on the Gold race in August, could that help push that little more into the forefront. The class is ultra competitive with an array of drivers all capable of winning, Ed Selby (244) – who won in his brand new machine at the Season Opener, plus Liam Santry (388) is certainly one to watch in the red grade, as will be Jake Banwell (391) and former Saloon Stock Car World Champion Max Stott (157), it will be interesting to see how they get on. Conner Shinn (319) and Liam Waterfall (790) were also race winners a month or so and will be wanting to keep that good fortune going. A strong line up throughout the grades, it’s going to be a good session – who will be the first to lay down their claim to the road to Gold?
Bank Holiday Monday also see’s the return of the Tsr Bangers and we have a huge field of drivers for that are coming to contest these quick and exciting Bangers that have been brought back for the 2026 campaign. The likes of 77 Russell Gill, 88 Lyndon Stark, 339 Jack Garrod, 390 David Gibson and 888 Lloyd Stark will be back on a regular basis to get some laps in and a race win or two along the way in the 2026 campaign. The aim of the game is to nudge and spin your way to the front and it will be quick, frantic and lively with plenty of cars on track which will be very entertaining indeed. There are plenty of long distance travellers joining us for Monday in the Bangers, with the likes of 6 Troy Jones, 177 Ryan Miles both making the trip up from the South West, 32 Tyler Cope and 107 Thomas Scarborough making the trip down from the Manchester area and plenty of drivers joining us from the London area, we really could be in for a treat of a day, on top of that we have a couple of drivers joining us from Holland, we really should be in for a top afternoon of entertainment. The drivers will start with a le mans race where they start within their respective grades with the nose of the cars up against the fence and once the green flag has been dropped they’ll be allowed to reverse and crack on with the race. The second round of heats will be normal races with plenty of spins and nudges and action along the way, and to finish off they will have spin the leader event, which will definitely be one too watch as nobody can go past the leader without spinning them out, which should give us plenty of changes for the lead and plenty of action along the way.
Enjoy the meeting
