Coming up soon at King’s Lynn . . . Sunday Smash! End Half term with a Smash – a rare Sunday afternoon of Banger and Stock Cars; featuring the small but big on action Micro Bangers. Stock Car racing comes in the form of the 1400cc Stock Cars- the metal will clash and the fence will rattle! PLUS the always entertaining Junior Bangers - these kids don't hold back... lots to look forward to, there's nothing domestic about this! There are 33 Micro Bangers, 53 1400 Stock Cars and 56 Junior Bangers booked to race, first race 1pm.
National Banger action comes in the form of the Micro Bangers; with just over 30 cars booked in; small cars, but big on action! Hard charges and likely to be challenging for top honours will be in the shape of Darren Fendley (673), Lee White (830) and Jamie Steel (869) – all three are very capable of taking the chequered flag. Another to keep a watch on will be Brett Jackson (551) who has been scoring handfuls of points this season so far.
In the Entertaining stakes James Liquorice (51) is always one to watch – always getting stuck and always smiling – he currently sits at the top of the Entertainer League and he won it last year – he does love a crash! Lewis Godfrey (93), James Cable (372) and Nick Ashbridge (428) also do well in the entertainer league and between them they regularly pick up entertainer awards.
The 1400 Stock Cars continue to prove why they are regarded as one of the premier formulas in short oval racing. Another huge turnout is expected this Sunday, with over 50 cars booked in and anticipation building ahead of the World Championship at King’s Lynn later this summer. The Norfolk venue is set to stage yet another thrilling meeting for the formula. The last event at the Adrian Flux Arena delivered nonstop action, with virtually any driver in the top ten capable of taking the chequered flag in the feature final race of the day. It was a bruising, edge-of-the-seat contest, and we can expect more of the same this Sunday.
Current points champion Jacob Bromley (303) heads the field sporting the Silver roof as he defends the points title. One driver certain to challenge him will be Jimmy Morris (167), who claimed victory in the meeting final at the Season Opener. With the Gold roof race looming in August, Morris will be eager to make another major statement and strengthen his credentials ahead of the big one.
Competition throughout the field remains incredibly fierce, with a host of drivers more than capable of taking victory. Ed Selby (244) impressed by winning in his brand-new car at the Season Opener, while Liam Santry (388) is another standout in the blue grade. Jake Banwell (391), winner of the Easter Monday Final here, will also be among the favourites, alongside former Saloon Stock Car World Champion Max Stott (157), whose progress through the field should be closely watched. Conner Shinn (319) and Liam Waterfall (790) have both enjoyed success at the venue already this year and will be hoping to continue that form. With strength and quality spread right through the grades, the stage is set for another superb session of 1400 Stock Car racing.
Finally on the bill are the Junior Bangers — would you believe the drivers are all aged between 11 and 15? Despite their age, this formula delivers incredibly competitive and action-packed racing that younger fans especially love to watch. Defending points champion Taylor Morton (08) has started the season strongly as he looks to retain the silver roof. Leo Mayes (730) continues to impress with a consistent run from Blue grade and will be one to keep an eye on Sunday. The new crop of Juniors coming through are starting to show form too - keep a watch on the likes of Bentley Freestone (34) and Elliott Royal (479); both were on the podium on Monday and will be aiming to keep that form going.
Beau Jeanes (113) is another youngster tipped to make an impact on Sunday- a double race winner here on Bank Holiday Monday and one to watch out for. Alfie Riches (370) is off the back of winning the feature final on Monday – a fantastic drive; can he make it two from two? We’ve got one of the biggest Junior Banger turnouts of the year so far incoming – these kids don’t hold back and we’re in for a great day from them.
Domestic fixtures are always massively under-rated; so why not grab your friends and family and enjoy an afternoon of Banger and Stock Car action this Sunday. End the Half term with a bang - discounted tickets online now to purchase; we look forward to seeing you trackside.
