Trackstar ‘Bilge’ Meeting – Saturday 8th August
Trackstar stage the ‘Bilge’ meeting once again at King’s Lynn on Saturday 8th August. All classes at this meeting are run to National Banger rules for both car construction and racing purposes.
This is not a ‘pre’ meeting exclusively for older cars. Instead, we simply exclude many of the commonly used car-types from modern-day racing in order to produce a meeting that contains a mix of older machinery and what you might describe as modern rubbish.
In 2026, three classes of Banger are being run with specifications as follows:
Micro National Bangers
These run to normal Micro National Banger rules except that the following cars are excluded from being used:
The normal engine limit of 1300cc applies in all cases. In addition, cars to be used must be included on the ORCi list of eligible cars for Micro Bangers which can be found on pages 13 and 14 of the link below

If you have anything which you believe is of a similar size and weight to cars on the eligible car list but isn’t included, then please ask Matt Black via the Trackstar office. In particular, the list does not include older models of car because of their scarcity. However, the eligible car list was first written over 20 years ago so pretty much every small car made after the early 1980s was considered at the time. By all means ask, but we are unlikely to rewrite the ORCi rules for any cars less than 40 years old that might be considered borderline. A bit like VAR, we are mainly concerned with clear and obvious errors!
As normal for Micro Bangers, no engine swaps are permitted in front-wheel drive (but talk to us if you have something obscure that is incomplete) but swaps are allowed for this meeting in rear-wheel drive cars but still have to be 1300cc or less.
1600 Bangers
The principal of this formula is very straightforward. ANY front-wheel drive car (not 4x4, SUV, van, pick-up) originally made and sold in the UK market with a petrol engine option of 1600cc or less may be used, provided that it is not on the eligible car list for Micro National Bangers. No engine swaps permitted. Some larger models are excluded for all 1600 Banger meetings which are:
In addition, for this meeting only we are also excluding the following:
However, for this meeting only we are also allowing rear-wheel drive cars to take part, still subject to the normal rule that a 1600cc petrol option had to be offered in the UK market, but we will accept engines up to 1800cc to be fitted to cars being raced on the day. Engine swaps are permitted in rear-wheel drive only. No BMW 3-series later than E30 models can be used and no A55 / A60 Farina derivatives.
2 Litre pre ’90 RWD
This class will be for rear-wheel drive cars only and the age limit will be strictly enforced. For this class only, there will be no turning around until the Final and DD.
We will also be strictly enforcing the rule that no cars originally available only with engines larger than 2 litres in the UK market can be raced, so this excludes such cars as the Humber Hawk and Humber Super Snipe. 6-cylinder engines are allowed, as are age-related engine swaps.
In additional, the following cars that are a mix of cars of borderline age, or those often considered to be Unlimited Bangers may not be raced in this class:
As a guide, this class is aimed at cars of a similar standing to Ford Capri, Cortina and Sierra, Vauxhall Cavalier Mk1 and Carlton, A60s, Rover P6, Volvo 340, Triumph 2000 and so on.
