A Celebration of a National Banger Racing Icon
This weekend at the Adrian Flux Arena marks one of the standout events of the 2026 National Banger calendar, celebrating the career and achievements of John “Victor” Reeves. The exceptional turnout of drivers from across the country reflects the immense respect Victor has earned throughout decades in the sport. Victor built his reputation through unwavering support of his home circuits, becoming one of the most admired and influential figures on the Banger racing scene.
Victor first rose to prominence during the RDC Promotions era at Dover and Mildenhall, where he collected numerous championships and points titles. Since joining the Trackstar scene following the end of RDC, he has remained a loyal supporter, making this two-day meeting a fitting tribute to his career.
Saturday’s racing takes place under a pre-1995 Unlimited format, designed to showcase older and more traditional machinery. The event excludes American cars and certain larger modern vehicles, encouraging competitors to bring classic Banger favourites that are increasingly rare on today’s tracks. Specially allocated heats include a dedicated pre-1970 race featuring an impressive collection of vintage British Beef.
The entry list boasts an extraordinary variety of cars and drivers from every corner of the sport. Alongside the vintage machinery, expect to see Japanese classics such as a Toyota Crown, a strong contingent of Ford Granada’s and traditional Jags. Many former teammates, long-time rivals and close friends of Victor have entered, creating a nostalgic atmosphere that celebrates both the man and the era he represents.
With around 140 drivers expected to compete, including strong support from Ireland, the Midlands, the North and the South of England, the meeting promises a spectacular mix of action, nostalgia and camaraderie. More than just a race meeting, it is a celebration of one of National Banger racing’s most respected figures and the community that has grown around him over the years. Fans can look forward to an unforgettable night of classic cars, fierce competition and a fitting tribute to a true Banger racing legend.
Sunday Delivers the Grand Finale to Victor’s Celebration Weekend
Following Saturday’s spectacular action, Sunday’s programme provides the perfect conclusion; while a strong Unlimited Banger entry ensures another action-packed day on track, much of the anticipation centres around the special 20-a-side 2L Banger team event between Team Victor and the Rest of the World. Bringing together some veteran competitors alongside rising stars and renowned crashers, the contest promises to be one of the most memorable team battles seen at Trackstar in recent years.
Alongside the team event, Sunday’s Unlimited Banger meeting offers a more traditional modern-day format with a mixture of racing and crashing expected throughout the afternoon. One of the headline attractions will be Victor himself taking to the track in a sport first - a Bentley Continental GT. A number of notable visitors, former rivals and long-time supporters from across the UK and Ireland add further strength to an already impressive entry.
The programme is completed by the 2 Litre Old Skool National Bangers, featuring around 40 cars from the golden era of front-wheel-drive machinery. Nissan Bluebirds, Primeras, Almeras and Vauxhall Vectras. The class has attracted both experienced campaigners and younger drivers eager to be part of the occasion, adding another layer of nostalgia and variety to the day’s racing.
More than just a race weekend, the event serves as a celebration of the friendships, rivalries and memories built around one of National Banger racing’s most respected figures.
