Introduction
It’s Summer Carnival Night at the Adrian Flux Arena, King’s Lynn, this weekend with plenty of entertainment for all the family on Saturday night (29 July, 5:30pm). The mighty two-litre Saloon Stock Cars make their first visit to the track for a month, while National Banger action comes from 1500cc Bangers. Completing the bill are the always hilarious Reliant Robins.
There are currently 34 2L Stock Cars, 52 1500cc Bangers and 15 Reliant Robins booked in to race
Please note that any driver who turns up unbooked will not receive any complimentary admissions that they may be entitled to and may also not be allowed to race if the event is still fully booked.
Any Saloon driver looking to book in or cancel should do so through the SSCA Secretary Marion Farrow. Banger and Robin bookings and cancelations can be made on 01553 771111 / 07939 580652.
Drivers please note that the pits open at 2pm and your early arrival will be appreciated. Drivers turning up in the last hour could well find themselves missing their first race.
Two-Litre Saloon Stock Cars
A lot has happened since the Heavy Metal Brigade were last here for a fantastic British Championship weekend in June. Newly-crowned European champion 730 Deane Mayes will be proudly displaying the extra colours added to his already-colourful roof, as he already holds the National Points and ORC titles.
730 Deane Mayes will be proudly wearing his new roof colours on Saturday after winning the European Championship
Runner-up in the last three major championships staged, including the British, 349 Michael Allard will be aiming for a big points haul to help him consolidate his lead in the National Points Championship.
Track experts 306 Daniel Parker, his father 304 Martyn Parker and 499 David Aldous are sure to be among the frontrunners, while Lynn locals 641 Willie Skoyles Jr and brothers 149 Jamie and 428 Lee Sampson will also enjoy themselves on the loose.
306 Daniel Parker currently leads the way in the Saloon track championship
Last time out, 570 Simon Venni claimed the Steve Newman Memorial for the second year running, and is sure to be on the pace once more, while World No. 6 Jacob Downey and 2016 English champion 217 Sid Madgwick can also be added to the long list of potential winners.
1500cc Bangers
The medium-sized Bangers may not be big in size, but they’re massive in action. Being cheap and easy cars to pick up means that there’s no holding back from the drivers, with action and crashes galore.
There is always plenty of action in the 1500cc Bangers
Heading the entry in World of Shale and National Points champion 88 Lyndon Stark, who will also have his brother 888 Lloyd racing alongside.
More successful brothers come in the form of 337 Ashley, 338 Terry and 339 Jack Garrod. Terry is a three-times 1500cc National champion, so he’s something of an expert in these cars, while Jack is the defending Entertainers League champion, so you can expect him to get well and truly stuck in as he looks to make up ground from second in the current standings.
Expect 2016 Entertainer League Champion 339 Jack Garrod to be looking to rack up the entertainer points
Others likely to be at the sharp end of proceedings include National Points leader 830 Lee White and 757 Callum Gill, both of whom are multiple race winners this season, with Gill taking the final last time out in the 1500s.
Spicing up the action, we should see the likes of Predator 178 Kieran Bowman and fellow young gun 248 Jamie Blything involved in plenty of crashing.
178 Kieran Bowman is always heavily involved in the action
The always entertaining 551 Brett Jackson could be one to watch, as will small/medium car specialist 247 Jon Bailey and 271 Ashlun Woods.
Lady racer 419 Laura Quadling knows how to mix it with the men, while there is a senior debut for Junior Banger graduate 193 Marshall Waldron.
Reliant Robins
Watch out for some hairy action from the three-wheeled ‘plastic pigs’ as they spend almost as much time on their roofs as on their wheels, while shedding bodywork all the time.
The Reliant Robins are always hugely entertaining
National Points Champion 385 Roy Gedge and 576 Colin Aldred are among the home favourites, but the tie-up with Mildenhall has brought several more top-line drivers into the fray, ready to upset the applecart. 16 Ray Douglas, 66 Steve Willis and 96 Ian Robins all have bags of experience and should be ones to watch.
Funfair Ride
All the fun of the fair will be at King's Lynn on Saturday with the famous Helter Skelter ride at the track. The good news for mum and dad is that the Helter Skelter will be free for the kids to go on as often as they like!
