Introduction
Part two of an action packed Easter weekend of Stock Car and Banger Racing at the Adrian Flux Arena is on Easter Monday afternoon (1pm) when the Wacky Races come to town. Two-Litre Bangers contest the annual Commentators Cup, with a caravan race laid on for good measure. Also on the programme is a large field of big 4x4 SUV Bangers, the crazy antics of Reliant Robins and the stars of the future in Junior Bangers
There are currently 37 2L Bangers, 22 4x4 SUV Bangers, 28 Junior Bangers, 13 Reliant Robins and 6 Caravans booked in to race (Caravans fully booked)
We are currently expecting 37 2L Bangers, 22 4x4 SUV Bangers, 28 Junior Bangers, 13 Reliant Robins and 6 Caravans to be in action.
Please note that any drivers racing in a formula that is due to receive start money and is not booked in will not receive Start Money. Any other formula will not receive their points or complimentary admissions. Any driver who is booked in who does not race or cancel their booking will have to pay a fine before they are allowed to race again. Bookings and cancelations can be made by E Mailing trackstar@norfolkarena.co.uk or by phoning 01553 771111 or phoning / texting 07939 580652.
Two-Litre Bangers
The Commentators Cup, sponsored by resident man-on-the-mic Alistair Oxby has been running for over 10 years now. With extra prize money on offer and the cup presented to the day’s top points scorer, it has proved popular with drivers and fans alike.
Defending champion 307 Jon-Joe Cunningham is one of a number of drivers putting in a huge effort over the weekend, as he not only plans to race on Saturday night, but then again with two more cars on Monday – in both the 2L Bangers and SUVs.
The same can be said for National Points Champion 338 Terry Garrod who will be joined on Monday afternoon by brothers 337 Ashley and 339 Jack.
Banger Points Champion 338 Terry Garrod wll have a busy day as he races both 2L Bangers and 4x4 SUV Bangers
The Aftermath team are always big supporters of the local 2L Banger scene and can be relied upon to provide plenty of action. They include 285 Sean Dyer, 400 Callum White, 515 Gareth Flatters, 551 Brett Jackson and top entertainer 604 Ross Cooper among their number.
The other red and yellow team, the Mad Hatters, feature World Champion 390 David Gibson and 399 Jonny Atkin, while wearing red and blue are the nationally renowned Predators outfit, including 125 Nathan Lake, 404 Luke Brinton, 479 Joel Allen and 519 Lee Middleton.
The field is packed out by 2L Banger specialists and other crash-happy locals such as 182 Ashley Watkinson and 183 Karl Thorpe.
The day’s racing will finish off with a caravan race which should provide absolute carnage on the raceway – it’s not to be missed.
Caravan Racing is always destructive
4x4 SUV Bangers
We look set for a record field of 4x4s which certainly provide something different from the norm. Be they Land Rovers, Range Rovers or Japanese motors – probably mainly the latter – these big cars can dish out some big hits and take plenty of punishment.
The 4x4 SUV Bangers produce lots of action and excitement
The trio of Garrod brothers all intend bringing a 4x4 to have fun in as well as the 2L Bangers, with 390 David Gibson and 307 Jon-Joe Cunningham doing likewise. 128 Andrew and 170 Chris Shipp are two more who will each be bringing a pair of cars on the day.
338 Terry Garrod and 256 Mark Ginders in action
Gibson will be joined in this class by running mate 392 Sam Baines, something of a destruction expert, who is sure to be one to watch. 428 Will Makins and 713 Ashley Ward also like their crashing and so should keep things lively.
Former Gold Roof winner 7 Chris Lowe tends to stick to the novelty formulas these days and will relish his time on track among the big machines.
Material and paintwork expert 791 Nicky Young should provide something pretty which he won’t be afraid to wreck, while Bear 133 Karly Day will be out to have fun too.
Reliant Robins
The three-wheelers contest the latest round of their World of Shale qualifying series, with spectacular crashes, barrel rolling cars and splintered bodywork flailing around being just some of the crazy action these little cars will serve up.
The Reliant Robins always produce plenty of spectacular incidents
Top dog in the formula at King’s Lynn at present is 385 Roy Gedge but he will have his hands full containing the World Champion 553 Daniel Douglas who makes a rare appearance at the track.
576 Colin Aldred is a former national points champion and just loves to have fun in the three-wheelers, while 490 Lee Barnard and 247 Ryan Clarke will be out to entertain.
Junior Bangers
The under-16s may take their racing a little more seriously than the other formulas in action on Monday, but that doesn’t mean the racing they serve up will be any less exciting. After a tarmac session at Ipswich last weekend, the locals return to the more familiar shale surface, with 93 Luke Nieuwenburg and 997 Wayne Cottrill likely to start as favourites for race wins.
997 Wayne Cottrill was the Junior Banger Final winner three weeks ago.
Cottrill claimed the final at the formula’s season opener three weeks ago, while W&Y grade series champion 72 Breeze Atkin was also a winner that day.
Experienced duo 69 Brad Bartrum and 78 Kieran Bowman should be competing at the sharp end. Of the less experienced racers, 71 James Unwin showed very strong form last time out, and could be one to watch from the front of the grid.
