Preview:
Part 1 of our big weekend kicks off with a very rare combination of BriSCA F1 Stock Cars and Unlimited Bangers, something we’ve not seen here for at least 10 years and the only time in 2022 you will see the two classes at the same meeting. With the added bonus of the National Ministox and we are in for a superb night of Short Oval racing.
The Unlimited Bangers are racing in teams of 6 competition – the War of the Worlds where this year all the prize money is for the Entertainers. Team Black are back and are always a force to be reckoned with in Teams combat; can they rise to the challenge today, three teams prepped for battle led by Jack Overy (617), Sid Madgwick (217) with other Team Black mainstays they will have there work cut out for sure. BriSCA F1 World Champion Tom Harris (1/84) doubles up on the action this evening and will be guesting for Team Black’s A team, Harris an accomplished racer in the F1 Stock Cars and a race winner at the Icebreaker earlier this year when racing for Team Black, it will be interesting to see how he goes Saturday. The Predators are also fielding three teams; captained by Kieran Bowman (178), with regular Predator racers Damien Matthews (87), Bradley Bowman (279) and Martin Kent (307) a number of guest drivers feature ready to mix things up, a strong line up from them too and they don't need any encouragement to get involved.
TMT are always in the mix and not shy of getting stuck in, Ricky Hutton (623) and Charlie Daniels (741) one’s to keep an eye on there. The Dover Boys are an ever presence at Team events now, led by John Reeves (188) who was certainly mixing it at the Icebreaker event, with James Licquorice (51) and Jordan Sharpe (828) for back up they could be in the thick of things Saturday. The Gladiators are also team event regulars; Taylor Pratchett (107) at the helm; the current leader of the year long Entertainers league is certainly “smashing it” this year. Conor Osborn (214) and Phil Smith (549) take their regular slot in the team and we’re sure the Glads will be there or there abouts; looking to double up following their Entertainers win at the 2L Banger version at the end of May.
Racing alongside are the BriSCA F1 Stock Cars; fresh off the back of their British Championship at Bradford last weekend, we’re looking for another good night from the F1’s. Last meeting was certainly a good one! As mentioned World Champion Tom Harris (1) doubles up on the racing, the meeting final winner here last time too. He’ll be joined by Mat Newson (16) who has certainly got his new one going well and upto speed, as has Craig Finnikin (55) who makes his 2022 King’s Lynn debut Saturday.
Charlie Sworder (5) has been going well and should be well placed Saturday, similarly Phoebe Wainman (211) who looks to be in a real grove at the moment, competitive on both surfaces, mixing it with the bumper; she took her first win recently and she’s chasing red grade; one to keep an eye on Saturday. Simon Traves (47) has been super quick on tarmac and will be looking to transfer those results on to the loose stuff. William Adams (545) took his maiden victory last time in the Grand National, good luck to him this evening. Good luck also to debutants Katy Addyman (111), Trevor Queenan (336) and Billy Queenan (360), Katy was certainly going well at the private hire practice this week using her Grasstrack experience to full effect; one to keep an eye on.
A late addition to the meeting; the Ministox will be on track, just for fun – no points on offer, with low to mid 20’s anticipated. Sam Crtichley (64) and Lucy Witts (180) will likely be the front runners, but keep an eye on Finn Hunter-Johnson (120) and Alfie Smith (642) too. Brooke Kitson (732) was your meeting final winner last time, upto blue this meeting but should still feature well given her driving last time. Freddie Rogers (269), Jake Woodhull (335) and Lilly Finnikin (55) also picks of the bunch to keep an eye on.
It's going to be a super night of racing, don’t forget we’re back on the Sunday – a double header of racing featuring Micro Bangers, 2L Bangers, Junior Bangers and Unlimited Lady Bangers.
