Preview:
Thrills and Spills since 1954 and long may it continue. A new season is here as we bring the curtain up for two of the three formulas; new cars, new paint and new drivers, the first meeting always has a great buzz to it after the Winter layoff!
The BriSCA F1 Stock Cars will start the night with their £1000 2022 W&Y Grade Final, these races are always a good watch and are hugely competitive, giving the lower graders their time to shine. Willie Skoyles (541) could be a top tip in this one, but Russell Cooper (415) does go well around here, as does Richard Woods (268) both of which could be challenging for the top honours. Keep an eye on William Adams (545) aswell, he’s been in victory lane at King’s Lynn before and could be looking to take that chequered flag. Whilst not qualified for the race, Father and Son duo Nigel (45) and Jake (345) Harrhy could join the back of the grid as non qualifiers, both tend to go well here just need the luck to go with it, hopefully luck’s on their side! Karl Whiteman (303) will line up on the grid too and could just sneek some of the prize money on offer.
Craig Finnikin (55) is currently scheduled one of the top drivers on shale, he found a very rich vein of form here at the end of last season, could he be picking up where he left off? Dave Polley (138) is an interesting name to the line up, the current BriSCA F2 World Champion races in the F1 Stock Cars today, most will know of his no-nonsense approach, we’re looking forward to seeing how he gets on, likewise with Lenny Smith (185) who returns to the formula after some time off.
King’s Lynn regulars Sam Makim (93) who rarely misses our meetings from his base near Blackpool! The Sargent’s, Father and Son, Mark (326) and Finn (526) who will be good to have with us, and Young Gun Callum Gill (457) who purchased the Ryan Harrison (197) machine and started to find some good form with it towards the end of 2022 – he could be a dark horse for some wins this season!
The 2L Saloons are in action for their second meeting of 2023 with us, and at the time of writing numbers are at 40 which is fantastic including a handful of Dutch visitors. Topping the list is World Champion Michael Allard (349), his results got better as the night went on last time; he will be looking to make amends and try to get on the podium more, similarly multiple champion Barry Russell (600). Former World Champion Timmy Barnes (131) had a good night though, a third, second and rounding out the night with a win, more this weekend we’re sure!
The usual Saloon protagonists in action and all will have their bit between their teeth, the Venni Brothers Simon (570) and Rowan (370) are always a good watch and will be in the mix. Wesley Starmer (525) is back, a steady night with a couple of top ten finishes two weeks ago, he will be looking for more, similarly with Deane Mayes (730). Alfie Aldous (238) was missing last week due to illness and then truck problems also hindering the weekend racing, hopefully back to full strength Saturday!
Jacob Downey (218) is a welcome name back on the booking list, another interesting name is one of the quickest drivers in the 1300cc Stock Cars Jimmy Morris (167) – keep an eye on them! A couple of Banger drivers trying their hand at the Saloons, good luck to Joey Reynolds (760) who moves across properly to the formula, incredibly racing Cowdenbeath in Scotland last Saturday, then all the way down to Taunton in Devon on the Sunday, some commitment that is; it’s his first outing on shale in the class! Jack Ansell (184) was the winner of the Unlimited Banger Final last Saturday here, can he double up with victory in the Saloons? Krijn de Vries (H40) and Jim van Klaveren (H692) visit from Holland and welcome to them, we hope their night is rewarded for their efforts.
The National Ministox are back at King’s Lynn! Not seen here since September, although a good number of them were here in February for our practice day. Lewis Hunter (200) was one of the new drivers at that session getting laps in for the new season, and going well too, as was Savannah Montgomery-Brown (113) and Luca Hodgson (272) who was very much growing in confidence at the end of 2022. A number of the top drivers here that day too fine tuning their machines, keep an eye on Toby Partridge (233), Jamie Hanson (611), Cody Hanson (711) and Brooke Kitson (732) here today. More of the top drivers expecting to be there Saturday; Joelan Maynard (51), Sam Critchley (64), Mason Whittle (183), Kasey Jones (186) and Boden Murfin (425), the Ministox are a real competitive formula at the minute! Whilst at the other end a lot of drivers just embarking on their career in Short Ovals – good luck to them all in equal measure, may the best driver win!

How will it work?

The more you donate the more votes & chances to win a free ticket! E.g. £4 donation 2 votes and ticket draw entries!
The driver with the most votes in each class will then receive a split of the money raised and will receive the "People's award trophy" at the next meeting they race at.
